Nothing New But Still Yummy

Hey everyone, had my long day at work today so I had to bring all of my meals except breakfast.  I enjoyed all of my meals even though they are standards for me, but I guess you can't go wrong with lots of veggies :)

Check it!

Breakfast: My new favorite oatmeal combo...banana, cinnamon, walnuts, coconut and ground flax. NOMS.

Midmorning snack: Iced coffee and a fruit salad of watermelon and grapes.

Lunch: Stir-fry

Dinner: Chopped salad with half an avocado.  Look how amazing the avocado looks!!!

Took another day off from the gym today but I plan to hit the training hard tomorrow :) I may take the rest of the week off from running though just to give my body a rest and start my 3.5 mile runs next week.  We'll see what time and how I feel when I wake up tomorrow.

Nommy Day

Today started off really well :) I decided to take the day off from running because my body is really shot from all of the working out and my crazy work schedule and I needed a little break.  I started my day with a trip to the "good" Whole Foods which is a little further than another location and it was so worth it.  I went early so it wasn't crowded at all and I had time to peruse at my leisure.  After that I went to the book store and picked up a few magazines as well as Ani Phyo's Ani's Raw Food Kitchen.  I've been interested in making more raw meals because I prefer to eat lighter meals in the summer because heat makes me feel super yucky.  I only had a chance to skim the book but the recipes look AMAZING so I can't wait to take time to actually read it through :)

On to the grub (mostly courtesy of the Whole Foods salad bar)!

Breakfast: Strawberry Banana Smoothie with flax and chia seeds.  I've found that this angle works best for drinks!

Midmorning Snack: Nectarine and almonds.

Lunch: Golden sesame tofu from the WF salad bar with roasted sweet potato and some watermelon (waaaaaaay in the back).

Afternoon snack: Iced coffee followed by baby carrots and hummus.

Dinner: Chopped salad with goodies from the WF salad bar.  I made a mix of mesclun greens, carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, a few artichoke hearts, double dose of protein (chickpeas and tofu) and later added sun-dried tomatoes.  I wish I took a pic pre-chopped because it was a beautiful salad but I obliterated it before I thought of it. Oh well!

Hope you all had a lovely day!

Z Hotel Launch Party Part 2 - Party Pics

Here are a few fun party shots from the night!

The staff has very unique, casual uniforms: Jeans, converse sneakers and plaid shirts.  I liked it :)

The owner of the hotel busting out a little dance move. Check out that stunning view in the background!

More dancing.

Hope you all enjoyed a few of my shots from the night!

Z Hotel Launch Party Part 1 - Details

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had the opportunity to be part of a team that shot the Launch Party for the brand new Z Hotel in Long Island City, NY.  I shot for Carmen Rubio Photography with Carmen Rubio and Steven Garib Jr. and as always, I had a great time working with them!

The hotel is beautiful, has a cool indoor lounge and a gorgeous rooftop lounge with a breathtaking view of the city.  Here are a few detail shots from the night.  I'll do another post with some party shots ;)

Guess Who's Back! Back Again! ;)

I'm finally back after the craziness of the week...before the craziness of the weekend!  I had this really cool opportunity to shoot a Grand Opening party for a new hotel on Tuesday so I had switched my work schedule from the evening to the morning then went to the shoot...I was out from 8:30 am until 1:30 am the following morning.  It was exhausting but a great experience :)  Yesterday I had my 10 hour day and was so exhausted so I didn't get to post but here I am!

I started off my day today with a 3 mile run which surprisingly felt great! After work I had a training session which also felt good so I'm really happy with my workouts today.

I know I promised I wouldn't post recycled pics but today I have to because I decided that posting a recycled pic is better than not posting at all, so I apologize for that :(

Anyway, check out the noms.

Breakfast (post run): gluten free oats with ground flax, raisins, walnuts and coconut.  I think this may be my new favorite combo!!

Snack: Iced coffee and a peach.

Lunch: Rice and beans with some veggies.  So good!

Snack: Lemon Larabar.  One of my favorites!!

Post workout: Protein Shake

Dinner: I'm house sitting for my bro tonight and there was no food here so I decided to order Thai food.  This is "spicy" mixed veggies with tofu.  It is good but not anywhere near as spicy as I'd like.  It is also much greasier than I'm used to so I feel really full and there is a ton left so I'll eat it for lunch tomorrow.

Hope you've all had a great couple of days!!

Super Active Day!

I started off my day today with round 1 at the gym: a 7:15 am spin session.  It was my first time doing spin and it is hard! I have to say it was a great workout and I totally enjoyed it, but that seat was a killer.  It was so uncomfortable and now I'm so sore from it.  After that I went to work and ended the day with a training session.  Needless to say I'm exhausted and tomorrow is going to be crazy...a really long day for work (approx 8:30 am - midnight...though I'll get home later than that).  Just gonna be mellow tonight :)

OK onto the yummy eats.

Breakfast (pre-spinning): Smaller bowl of oats (1/4 cup oats, 1 tsp chia seeds, 1/3 cup almond milk) topped with fresh strawberries.

Post spinning: Protein shake

Midmorning snack: iced coffee and yummy watermelon.

Lunch: Stir-fry

Post training: Another protein shake (so didn't want to drink it!!)

Dinner: Roasted cauliflower, roasted chickpeas and an apple (I know I'm not supposed to eat fruit late but sometimes I just need something sweet!).

Overall a really yummy day! Hope everyone is staying cool!

Happy Father's Day!

Hope you all had a great day! I started mine off with a three mile run which was REALLY hard because I've been so sore from all of my other workouts and from work. I powered through though!  I'm excited and a little nervous for tomorrow because it is my first time doing spin!  It is a private session too so all focus is on me so it'll be intense for sure!  Then I have another training session at night! AH!

Anyway, onto todays eats!

Unpictured breakfast: Post workout protein shake + LOTS of water.

Midmorning snack: COFFEE.

Lunch: Whole Foods tofu with broccoli over 1/2 cup brown rice (yes there is rice under there!).  It was delicious.

Afternoon snack #1: Yummy peach

Afternoon snack #2: Handful of cashews

Dinner: Another chopped salad. NOMS.

Dessert: Big ass bowl of watermelon!

Sorry I couldn't get pics of everything but it was all SO YUMMY! Great meals today and hopefully more tomorrow!

Have a great night!

Move, move, move!

So sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days! I feel like I haven't stopped moving since Thursday!  I had to work a wedding yesterday so the eats were sporadic (yet yummy, I must say) and today I started off my day with an hour of vinyasa yoga followed directly by a training session.  After that I went to work for a few hours then ran errands.  I am finally able to relax and share at least one meal I've had over the past few days.

I haven't been eating nearly enough veggies over the past few days so for dinner I was craving a big ass salad.  I bought a chopped salad with the usual suspects (I need to load up on my produce tomorrow) and topped it with half of an avocado.  It was SO GOOD. It is amazing how somedays I don't want to see a veggie but other times I crave them like crazy.

I ate a super late breakfast (after my almost 2 hour workout) at work so i didn't get a pic but not surprisingly it was oatmeal.  I snacked during the day because my breakfast was more like lunch but the only noteworthy mention was this AMAZING ripe, juicy peach I had.  It was so good, the best peach of the season so far...so much so that I kind of want another :X I guess I could be craving worse things!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend!

Another Super Yummy Day!

Today was my long day at work so I had to bring my lunch and dinner with me.  I definitely need prettier to go containers because these tupperware dealies totally kill the pics.  In any case, I made some pretty yummy meals today :)  Nothing too far from what I normally eat but everything totally hit the spot today.

Breakfast: I know it is a shock but I had oatmeal for breakfast.  Todays oats had ground flax, cinnamon, banana, drizzle of peanut butter and a sprinkling of coconut.  So delicious.

Midmorning snack: Coffee and an apple

Lunch: Brown rice with roasted chickpeas, roast cauliflower and sun-dried tomatoes.  Seasoned with garlic, pepper and some nooch.  It was damn good!

Afternoon Snack: Iced soy latte

Dinner: Chopped salad.  I really love chopped salads and they are so good and light in the summer.  In fact...it may make another appearance tomorrow ;)

OK so does anyone have a good granola recipe?  I'm looking for something as clean as possible, cinnamon is a bonus, and low yield is preferable (although I could always halve the recipe).  I've been craving a nice refreshing breakfast of fruit topped with a little granola and almond milk but I don't want to buy granola.  Any favorite recipes are definitely appreciated! Thanks!

3 miles? No problem!

OK maybe it did suck a little bit but I did it! I'm constantly surprising myself with my ability and it is really exciting!  I know 3 miles doesn't seem like a lot but I'm not even close to being a runner.  I find it boring and tedious and I would fight it so much.  So this was a huge accomplishment for me!

Now to the noms!

Breakfast (post-workout): I added two tablespoons of chocolate brown rice protein powder to the banana date shake I made the other day.  I won't lie, it wasn't my favorite combo and it was a bit chunky but it did the trick. And tiki glasses make everything awesome!

Lunch: Rice and beans with salsa topped with avocado.

Afternoon snack: Iced coffee and an apple.

Dinner: Stir-fry.

After dinner: Handful of cashews.

Overall a super yummy day. Hope you all had a great one!

Typical but yummy day...

I woke up this morning feeling a little better than I did yesterday.  While I don't have much of an appetite I'm still trying to eat 3 good meals per day to get some energy back.  I had a training session this evening but knew that I wouldn't be able to get a protein shake down so I had to make the executive decision to forego it.

Breakfast: Oats with raisins, walnuts and coconut. Noms.  Made with 1/3 cup oats.

Lunch: chopped salad.  The sun-dried tomatoes are always the best part!

Dinner: Crispy tofu with avocado and tomato salad and some refreshing cantaloupe.  I'm not supposed to eat fruit this late in the day but I'm totally breaking the rules tonight.

So it seems like I'm on the mend.  Tomorrow I do my first 3 mile run and hopefully I'll get through it ok :)

Yucky Day Eats

So I felt yucky all day today but still tried to get 3 nutritious meals down.  I barely wanted to get out of bed never mind cook but I did the best I could.

Breakfast: Banana Date Shake from How It All Vegan! topped with coconut and cinnamon.  I did a whole post on this yumminess below.

Lunch: Roasted Chickpeas with a roasted sweet potato.

Dinner: Stir-fry.

Not too much to report.  Hopefully I'll be back to normal tomorrow.

Banana Date Shake

So sorry about my absence over the past few days.  Been super busy with work so it has been hard to get pics of my meals.

This morning I woke up with zero appetite and feeling super yucky.  I didn't want to eat anything but I knew I needed something in my belly.  I was looking through cookbooks and realized I FINALLY had all 3 (sad that I never had 3 ingredients at the same time) ingredients to make the Banana Date Shake in How It All Vegan! which I've been wanting to try since I first read the cookbook.

It was really good! I garnished the top with a sprinkling of shredded coconut and cinnamon.  It was very sweet so I'm glad I halved the recipe and made a small portion of it because my tummy can't handle much right now :(

And how cute is my cupcake mug?  It is a small mug so I don't really use it for coffee but I'm glad I finally got to use it!

I'll be in bed most of the day trying to not feel yucky but I'll definitely photograph the rest of my meals and get a full post in later. :( boo for feeling yucky!

New Day

Sorry for being such a crankypants lately! I'm still kind of cranky but definitely doing a bit better than the past few days.  Food is still kind of boring and it is so hot I don't really even want to eat but this is what I ate today.

Breakfast: Fruit salad of cantaloupe, grapes and strawberries

Midmorning: Bucket of iced coffee and a banana

Lunch: Brown rice, roasted chickpeas, roasted cauliflower and sun-dried tomatoes.

Dinner: Ugly but tasty stir-fry.

Pretty decent day.  Breakfast was my favorite, it was so refreshing!

Same Old

Today's meals were the same as usual.  I'm exhausted and in a pretty bad mood because of things that have happened so I didn't feel like being creative with my meals.  Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow though.

Breakfast: Oatmeal

Lunch: Stir-fry

Dinner: Chopped Salad

Sorry for being a crankypants but hopefully tomorrow will be a better day!
