Calling In Sick

Hey everyone. I just wanted to post something quick to let you know I may not be around the next few days. Last night just a little while after I posted I ended up getting a major major headache. I tried to sleep it off and when I woke up this morning my throat was on fire, I couldn't swallow and I could feel it all in my chest. I decided not to wait and went to the doctor and it turns out I have an upper respiratory infection with a touch of bronchitis. The headaches I've been getting all this week were probably actually sinus headaches and not so much caffeine withdrawal...since I ignored them the infection spread.

I'm going to rest and I will be back in a few days when I'm feeling better. Unfortunately I'm going to have to put the cleanse on hold for now...it is a lot of time and energy so while I still plan on eating nutritious foods to get better, I am going to focus more on resting and getting over this because I feel majorly yucky. I don't have much of an appetite right now either.

I'll try my best to check out your blogs while I'm resting. Hope you are all doing well.

Since I don't have food to show you I figured cute animals are the next best thing.

Crazy Sexy Cleanse: Day 6

Hey everyone! My day started off pretty interesting :) I'm sure I've mentioned many times that I'm a ridiculous klutzy spazz and I have evidence now. The first thing I did this morning was go to the gym at 8:30 and I managed to almost fall down the stairs heading out. My ankle buckled and luckily I only slid down 2 stairs before I caught myself. I'm such a mess, ha! Surprisingly I recovered from that minor spill and had an amazing session where I did some super tough rounds. Got me all ready to watch the fights tonight (well the free prelims at least).

After the gym I attempted to combine my green smoothie with my protein shake. Bad idea. I was too busy trying to get it down to take a pic. Trust me, you didn't miss anything.

At around noon I ate an apple but again, no pic because you've all see apples before.

Lunch was this gorgeous plate of yum. Grape tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, hummus, a few roasted brussels sprouts and some crackers. So good.

Fresh chopped!

For dinner I made a huge chopped salad. I used spinach, cucumber, carrot, sun dried tomato and topped with a half of a gorgeous, perfectly ripe and creamy avocado.

For "dessert" I'm having a Kris Carr approved snack of air popped popcorn. I popped it up to snack on while I watch the UFC prelims in a few minutes. I topped mine with a light sprinkling of sea salt and some nooch. Yum! This is the first time I used my air popper even though I bought it ages ago and it worked really well! Good to know ;)

Hope you all have a great night! I'm off to watch the fights!

Crazy Sexy Diet: Day 5

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! I hope you all had a lovely week. The week went quickly but I'm definitely glad it is the weekend! Tomorrow is a bonus training session which I'm pretty stoked about, but I'm nervous I'm going to still be sore! I woke up sore from yesterday's session and then did some cardio today so hopefully I'll be ok by tomorrow :)

I definitely am starting to feel normal again. I have not had any coffee since last Sunday, and I did not have any green tea today, so I think I'm finally caffeine free :) This is probably the biggest accomplishment I've had in a really long time because I've tried to kick the caffeine habit many times unsuccessfully. I'm really proud of this.

So lets check out the meals...

Green smoothie. No major changes yet. Going to make a few next week. I'll talk about this on Sunday.

Around 11:30 I ate this refreshing, crispy apple.

For lunch I had the rest of my brown rice, cucumber and avocado rolls with a big ol' chopped salad made with greens, sun dried tomato, cucumber and carrot. I dressed it later with CSD Carrot Miso dressing.

Before I went to the gym to do some cardio I had a snack of gluten free flax crackers with hummus and more sun-dried tomatoes.

When I got home from the gym I made an unpictured protein shake and then did about 15 minutes of yoga, mainly sun salutations and downward dog. Carr suggests you meditate every day and this is my form of meditation. I'm not really a sit at an altar and meditate kind of gal, my mind starts racing instead of clearing. Yoga has always been my kind of meditation, I focus on breath and that allows me to clear my mind the way meditation would. I also just needed to stretch out these legs if I want to survive this training session tomorrow! ;)

My intention for dinner was a baked sweet potato with some raw veggies. Then I realized I didn't have any sweet potatoes. Oops! I was still kind of full from that protein shake so I made a piece of millet toast and added some raw almond butter and a sprinkling of cinnamon to it. The raw veggies still made an appearance.

I'm craving something sweet (hence the intended sweet potato) so I'll probably have a few blackberries for dessert in a little bit.

Hope you all have a great Friday night!

Crazy Sexy Diet Day 4: Instagram Edition!

Hey everyone. Not much to say. Been a stressful week. I feel much better now. I'm a little lethargic but no headaches, no nausea and my appetite is returning. However, on Monday my tire exploded on my car and then yesterday someone went into my car and looked through everything while it was warming up. I have a remote starter and someone decided to try and help themselves to my stuff. Good thing I don't keep anything at all in my car. I've been pretty mellow about all of these events though. Been trying to stay calm and not stress, and I think I've reacted much better than I would have in the past.

Anyway, this week has been pretty simple food wise. I'll be more prepared next week. I'm planning on making a few dishes from the cookbook to have on hand next week so I can have warm cooked food along with my salads. It's cold and yucky here and since this diet allows cooked food I should actually enjoy it.

I started off my day with another green smoothie. I didn't take a pic of it because it looks the same as the others. I was also running late today so by the time I got to work it was half gone and not photogenic anyway. I took the rest of the photos on my phone and played with Instagram effects.

Late in the morning I snacked on an apple.

Lunch was another swiss chard wrap. These are really really good. I'm bummed it took me so long to try this!

Afternoon snack before the gym was some raw almonds.

After the gym I had a protein shake which I didn't take a picture of.

For dinner I had some brown rice avocado and cucumber rolls and a big green salad on the side. I thought the sushi was more exciting since you'll be seeing a lot of salads over the next two weeks.

I took this picture this morning after a crazy storm. I thought it came out really cool. The sky was pitch black but the sun was shining on the shop across the street and the rainbow was coming across the sky. Cool shot and pretty good quality for a phone pic!

Hope you all had a great day! I seem to be settling into the cleanse now. I'm still now happy about the green smoothies. I don't think that's going to change but like I said I'll stick it out through the end of the week. 4 days with no coffee and I'm still functioning. I still miss it a lot...not for the caffeine but because I really just love the taste of coffee.  That is why I treated myself to something that will hopefully solve the problem. I'll show you this weekend ;)

Have a good night!

Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse: Day 3

Hey everyone! Thank you all so much for your support and encouragement, it really means a lot. I woke up with no headache (yay!) but still feeling quite lethargic, a little dizzy and low appetite. I'm a little nervous because I have a training session tomorrow and I don't want to feel crappy walking into it.

My meals are 95% raw today because I have to bring most of them to work with me and Kris Carr suggests you stay away from the microwave so raw meals it is. Check em out!

Green smoothie in the window... I couldn't find my mason jar which is what I wanted to put it in but oh well. This one is spinach, cucumber, avocado and a pear. It was fine. Still not loving it.

Blackberries for a snack later (probably around 11:30) with some green tea.

Big ol' salad for lunch. Mesclun greens, carrots, cucumber, sun dried tomatoes and grape tomatoes. Will be topped later with Carrot Miso dressing from CSD.

And for dinner...

Pre-rolled swiss chard wrap. Hummus, carrot, sun-dried tomato and cucumber.

After rolled. This'll be good!

I've thought about the whole green smoothie situation and I'm going to stick it out every day for the first week and then I'll assess the situation. I'm considering switching it to every other day and eating an approved CSD breakfast with an apple cider vinegar drink for the extra alkaline boost. I'll take the rest of the week to decide. I am not one to quit something I start on but if I'm not feeling well I have to make adjustments. I'll see how the rest of the week goes.

Hope you all have a great day today!

Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse: Day 2

Hey everyone! I'm just going to get right to it today. I woke up feeling all kinds of terrible. I had a horrible migraine, felt incredibly nauseous and was exhausted. It was exactly what I was afraid of.

Logically I know I'm going through caffeine withdrawal but I'm still doubting myself and this cleanse. I feel really gross. I had a really hard time during my training session yesterday because my energy was so low. I am hoping to find a balance soon...

Today was a really light food day because I had a hard time keeping food down.

Breakfast was another green smoothie. Spinach, cucumber and banana with stevia and cinnamon. It was ok. I'm not sold on green smoothies for breakfast though.

I wasn't hungry at all for lunch so I tried to make a compact, calorie dense meal so I mashed a half of an avocado on a slice of millet toast.

I brought a pear to work for snack.

Some raw veggies with hummus for dinner. This was my favorite meal of the day.

I definitely did not eat enough today because I felt so sick. Thankfully the green tea helped or else I would have been miserable at work.

I think the hardest part of this for me is the green smoothie for breakfast. It's not that they taste terrible or anything, I just really don't like drinking my breakfast...unless it is the summer. And I also don't like the idea of having to drink them every day. I'd be ok a few days a week but every day is a lot for me. I'm only two days in and I'm over the. Oy.

I hope you all had a good day. I'm hoping that I'll feel better in the morning.

Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse: Day 1!

Hey everyone! Today was the day I started the Crazy Sexy Diet 21 Day Adventure Cleanse. I am really excited about it, I think I did really well today and I definitely noticed how lovely and colorful all of my meals looked. What I love about this is that it is a great balance of mostly raw, but you still eat some grains and warm food. This makes me happy.

As I stated the other day, my intentions to check my pH were scrapped when I opened an empty box of strips. It is a bit of a bummer because I was curious about it but it's all good. I think that I will be able to tell the difference in how I feel anyway.

So, what did I eat/drink on this first day? I'm pretty happy with how everything came out, check it out!

I started off the day with a glass of water with lemon juice and cayenne as suggested in the book.

Before I get to the meals, I just wanted to show you my awesome skull and crossbones ice cubes! I added them to my smoothie mixture and saw how awesome they were and wanted to share :)

Check out my first green smoothie! The other one or two green smoothies I posted on here were only green because of the protein powder. This one is legit! I made this "Limeade" Smoothie. It has spinach, avocado, cucumber, limes, ice, cinnamon and stevia. It was really good but was quite sour because I didn't put in enough stevia. I definitely enjoyed it enough to make it again, but I will definitely add more stevia. Also, if you decide to make it, make sure you don't skip the cinnamon...it was such a great addition!

After the smoothie I had a big cup of green tea.

It is suggested that you hold off on solid food until noon in the book so I consumed only liquids until then when I ate these really yummy blackberries.

I was surprised that I wasn't on the floor with hunger pangs by the time lunch rolled around but I was definitely ready to eat. I decided to have a slice of millet toast with hummus, cucumber and tomato with a carrot and some VERY lightly steamed broccoli sprinkled with nooch. I am not a fan of raw broccoli so I have to steam it just a little.

Before the gym I snacked on some raw almonds that I put in my teeny little measuring bowl. It holds a little less than 1/4 cup. I love raw almonds.

After the gym I made a quick protein shake. The usual mixture, nothing crazy.

To be honest I've consumed so much liquid today I'm not hungry at all for dinner. I'll probably make myself a salad in an hour just to get that last meal in at least 3 hours before bed time.

So at the end of day one I feel pretty good. I didn't get a headache which was what made me the most nervous.  The only thing is that I feel really tired from the lack of caffeine but that may end up being a good thing because it may actually help solve some of my sleeping problems I tend to have. We shall see.

Overall I think it has been a very colorful and nutritious day! I'm feeling pretty good and I have a very good outlook on the rest of this cleanse :)

Stay tuned!
