Just Another Day

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been a bit quiet, things have just been chugging along here. Nothing new, nothing exciting. This post will be quick because the food is the same, the workout yesterday was the same. Great but nothing new... lots of boxing/kickboxing, some rowing, lunges and other fun things.

The food has been... uninspired. More of the same. I wasn't going to post today but I decided that the same boring meals were better than nothing. I guess. I'm feeling a bit lethargic, probably because the cool weather, rain and clouds returned after two gorgeous days. I'm not bummed or depressed or anything, just tired. I've already resolved to make tomorrow more fun. More on that later.

Breakfast was some avocado toast and a banana.

Late morning I ate the rest of the fruit salad I made for work. Mmm.

Lunch was a snacky type plate with the usual suspects.

No clue about dinner. It'll probably be a salad of some sort.

So tomorrow I'm actually inspired to make some nice food. I'm not Irish (though I've been told that with my dark hair and blue eyes I can pass for Irish) but I have experienced the glory of Ireland. I passed through there for a few days while backpacking for three weeks the summer between undergrad and grad school. Ireland was definitely my favorite place that I visited. I have never met such lovely, friendly people in my life. The country is absolutely stunning and in our short time there we met a lot of great people, drank some good drinks ;), shopped in some AMAZING markets, heard lots of bagpipes and shared a room with 12 other backpackers. If you think that's a lot, we shared a room with 14 backpackers in Scotland. It was nuts!

Anyway, the moral of this story is that while I'm not really too into celebrating holidays (especially ones that have nothing to do with me), I will do something to celebrate St. Patrick's Day tomorrow. No, I won't be partaking in potatoes all day or seitan and cabbage or Irish soda bread (damn gluten!). I decided to go for an all green meals day, part 2. I did this a little bit ago and had fun with it so I decided that tomorrow would be a great day to go for another round :) Stay tuned, I actually planned my meals out and it's definitely going to be a good day!

Hope you all had a great week! So happy the weekend is here :) Can't wait to see how you all celebrate St. Patty's Day (if you do that is!). The Ultimate Fighter Live is on tonight so that's what I've got on tap. Have a great night!

  1. I'm having a tired day, too. We decided to make it a very relaxing night. :)

I have forgotten to buy avocados for 2 weeks now! Your toast is killing me! Must remember this weekend.

That's so awesome that you had that experience with backpacking in Ireland. It's one of the places we'd like to visit someday, although I'd have to get over my fear of flying first...... An all green meals day sounds like a great way to celebrate the day!

    1. Relaxing nights are always the best :) Ack sorry, put them at the top of your list! :) There is a grocery list app on the iphone that I highly recommend... I actually think it is just called grocery list lol. I like it because I can add to it before I forget and I can leave staple items on there every week. I leave avocados, carrots, greens, etc. on there and just change up the rest.

Ireland is definitely worth the flight. I flew in to London and it was a redeye so a good sleeping pill will take care of that fear! I don't like flying but I won't let it hold me back from experiencing the world. Unfortunately money will though lol.

  2. I have never been to Ireland, but I heard it's beautiful. I think St. Patrick's Day is kind of silly, a day people use as an excuse to drink a lot, but I will be interested to see and read about your all green food day. It sounds like a great idea no matter what the holiday.

    1. I agree, it is kind of a silly holiday and one that I don't want to be driving around at night because I can't imagine the amount of drunk drivers. I rarely ever drink so that isn't going to be a problem but I just thought it would be fun :)

  3. Lucky you to have been to Ireland; it's one of the few places I really must get to. Do you have any photos of the time there?
I do think the celebration of St. Pats is a bit diluted and ridiculous for most of us (and I am Irish) but I do enjoy a reason to celebrate or to have a change of pace. The kitschy kind of celebration is a little much for me, though - all the shamrock decorated cookies or whatever - but I can totally get behind a green day :)

    1. If you get the opportunity you need to jump on it because it is amazing! I have photos somewhere but I really have no idea where. If I find them I'll post them!

It is ridiculous for sure and most people don't need an excuse to get totally sloppy drunk but I guess it is what it is. I agree the the kitsch is silly (but I think it is for every holiday) but if it gives me an excuse to focus on shoveling as many greens as possible in my face then so be it ;)

  4. Nice blog! I was vegetarian for twenty years and am always on the lookout for food ideas. I plan to spend a few hours reading your old posts. (Found you from your comments on Sage's blog.) Good luck with your blogging.

  5. Happy Weekend, Sarah!! Ireland did not make it onto our agenda when a small group of us backpacked across Europe after college. I definitely plan to get there someday (I am part Irish, but a very small percentage). I would love to hear more about your backpacking adventure! :)

Can't wait to see what you post for St. Patty's!

  6. I feel glad I haven't missed any posts. I can't catch up!

So great that you've been to Ireland. I've been to London a few times, but never anywhere else in Great Britain. Looking forward to all the greens (I expect some to be chopped).
