Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse Take 2: Day 13

Hey everyone! I hope you are all having a great day! It was a beautiful day here and it made me happy that today was my early day so at least I got out in time to enjoy a little bit of it! On Thursdays I have my training session right after I get out of work so I usually only have a few minutes to do some warm up cardio so today I just figured I'd jog my warm up. So I ended up doing a 12 minute mile before my session which isn't a bad starting place I guess? It's amazing how quickly I'm feeling the difference in my running and how I've been able to get my breathing sorted and work through the initial leg soreness. I'm very happy about it. I had a great session after that as well, I felt really strong today! Haha I told my trainer that I'm in beast mode for the summer ;) My goal is to be in the best shape of my life after this summer and I think I'm off to a good start.

I didn't take photos of my meals today because it was more of the same. Another smoothie, some more fruit, another salad, etc. Instead, I took pics of my mid-cleanse/first use of dehydrator grocery haul.

Check out the produce haul! 2 avocados, 1 sweet potato, 3 small beets (finally trying them!), 2 zucchinis, carrots, bananas and a huge ass bunch of kale. Kale chips anyone?! ;)

From the fridge and freezer I got some gluten free Brown Rice bread (haven't had gluten free bread in so long!), almond milk, stuffed grape leaves and hopefully better frozen blueberries.

I totally ran out of Vega this week. I found that they changed the Vega Shake and Go to Vega "Energizing Smoothie." I'm totally fine with this because it shaved $8 off the price of the large pouch! I got a big pouch of Vanilla Almondilla since I use it for most of my smoothies and 2 individual pouches of Choc-a-lot for when I'm in the mood :) 2 emergency on the go protein bars too.

Finally from bulk I got some quinoa, buckwheat groats (to try Angela's recipe from today!! Holy crap that looks good!) and some raw cashews.

I know it doesn't look like it but I actually held back on the produce because I'm hoping to go to a Farmer's market this Sunday (hooray for the opening day of the season in that location!) and score some good stuff. That's assuming I can get my ass out of bed after working the wedding on Saturday. I think I'll make it though :)

I hope you all had a good day. Hooray for Friday! I may have to work Saturday but I get out really early tomorrow so I'm excited about that. You better believe I'm going to be trying out my new running shoes tomorrow! Stay tuned for my Fun Friday post :)

  1. Ah, beast mode. I love that! That's so awesome that you're feeling strong & motivated. You're doing so well!

How are you planning on eating the beets? I love them steamed. So, so good.

The farmer's market starts this weekend here, too, which we're excited about. I can't wait to check it out!

  2. Beautiful produce. Good for you for finally trying beets. I just love them, but cooked of course. A huge ass bunch of kale, huh? ("I'm looking for a Mr. Jass. First name Hugh.") I definitely want to make kale chips again too, even though I don't have a dehydrator.

    1. I'm excited to try them! I have one preparation in mind and if I like them I'll experiment more. Haha yes Hugh Jass :) That bunch was so big though I'm going to get several batches of chips out of it. Maybe I'll try adding it to my smoothies!

  6. Awesome haul and yay for feeling awesome with your training! I want to be in the best shape ever this summer too- usually my goals are to be more toned, so I am really proud that my goal has changed to being more health-related! Progress :)

I saw that recipe for the Buckwheat Crispies too! Bookmarked it for sure! I've never tried One Lucky Duck, but making it at home seems like a good way to do it!

    1. My fitness goals have moved toward health too because I've come to realize that the physical will follow :) I feel like I have lots of fitness accountability buddies here and I love that!

What I've tried from One Lucky Duck has been great so I can't wait to try these!

  7. Hi! A twelve minute mile is fantastic - high five! How much running will there be for the Tough Mudder? I think it sounds like you're already in amazing shape!

Beautiful grocery haul. Kale chips, yes please! I've still not prepared beets at home, but have had golden beets in a salad. Can't wait to see what you prepare! How will you use the raw cashews? I have some, but don't know what to do with them.

Angela's post absolutely looks fantastic, looking forward to your review!

    Happy Friday!

    1. Thanks Ingrid! Tough Mudder is 12 miles total. I don't know how much of it is running. I know there are 20+ obstacles so those probably take up at least half of the course. My goal is to run 4-5 miles at least 4 times a week. When I get there maybe I'll up it 6.2 miles and get the 10k distance.? I'll see when I cross that bridge!

Thanks! I like to just eat raw cashews but there is a kale chip recipe I want to make that uses cashews so we'll see!

Can't wait to try it! Happy Friday!

  8. Looks delish! I heard they changed the ingredients in the Vega and not for the better. I've never had it though.

  9. Really? not for the better taste wise? I didn't mind it and I never really drink it on it's own so it's usually muted in my smoothies :)

  10. You go through a lot of Almond Milk. (Not that there's anything wrong with that).

    1. Haha yes and no :) It usually takes me a week and a half to go through one (I use it in my smoothies almost every day) so I get one when I go grocery shopping so I have backup. I have 1 and a halfish cartons of Almond Milk in my fridge now. it's probably the one ingredient I really don't want to ever run out of!

  11. I really should try Vega smoothies. My trainer has been harping on me to up my protein intake. What, there's no protein in candy?

I love your Fun Friday posts. Let us know how you like your new running shoes. I need to get a new pair soon.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Haha if only Twizzlers were a high protein snack! I like the powder, probably because I have had so many really bad ones and this one isn't totally nasty, ha! I also like how this one has omegas, greens and probiotics in addition to the protein. I only use it in my morning smoothies though. I use the recovery powder if I make a post workout smoothie. Try the protein bars too! The chocolate coconut flavor tastes like a candy bar!

Thanks! I have fun writing them! The sneakers are light as air and super comfy but the left one cut up the back of my foot a little so I'll just wear higher socks next time.

      You too Sage!
