Back from Hibernation

Hey everyone. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been a little bit of a busy, rough weekend. I worked Friday and Saturday and then spent the day with my niece yesterday. Still low on energy as I realized in my first training session since I got sick. I felt like I was moving at half speed and I was really disappointed in my performance today. I felt very out of it. I think I'm going to rest until my next session on Thursday and hopefully I'll be back to my old butt kicking self. My main goal over the next few days is to eat the most nutrient dense food I can possibly eat and hopefully I'll get some natural energy as the antibiotics work out of my system.

I have a few pics for you from today.

For breakfast I had this bowl of oats. I added raisins, walnuts and shredded coconut. About 1 tbsp of each.

My "first lunch" was a slice of millet toast with mashed avocado and a small orange that my great aunt sent from Florida! It was so delicious and juicy.

For "second lunch" I ate half of this gorgeous salad.

After the gym I had a protein shake and I'll probably finish the salad for dinner. I may add something to it but I'm not sure since my appetite is really low after this session. My throat is also on fire so I'm going to drink some herbal tea and hopefully that'll soothe it.

I hope you are all doing well. I should be around more with some hopefully very colorful and nutritious meals! I am really going to try and fight my laziness and prepare some beautiful meals that will help me get my energy back.

  1. You mean your throat is 'On Fiyah!' Sorry, couldn't resist.

Hey, did you hear about the new movie 'Haywire'? Sounds like your kinda fare. Rest up so you can go to a matinee before it leaves the theatres.

    1. Haha on fiyah indeed! I actually did hear about the movie! Gotta love a pro chick MMA fighter that goes off to kick ass in a movie :) I shockingly still haven't seen "The Fighter." I REALLY want to see that one.

  2. Oh no! Throat on fire! I can totally tell you're ready to get back to normal, but I'm going to get all motherly on you: respiratory illnesses are no joke! Slow and steady, with lots of rest.

Ok, I'll be quiet about that now. :)

These are some great meals, definitely full of nutrition and yumminess!

    1. Aww I appreciate that :) I didn't realize how yucky I still felt until i worked out. I'm in bed now and I don't think I could move even if I wanted to! Good thing I don't want to :) I'm going to do my best to rest up over the next few days.

  3. Everyone is having problems! I don't like it!
The bowl of oats looks great, though, for the life of me I could not figure out what it was at first! It looks kind of like noodles.
Feel better and fuel up well.

  4. I hope you feel better soon!! It's frustrating to be held back by not feeling well. I love the pic of the orange with avocado. The orange does look so vibrant and juicy.

    1. Thanks Rose! OMG the orange was AMAZING! I'm going to visit my friend in Florida in February...I may have to load up and bring them back here :)

  5. I thought the coconut looked liked noodles at first too!

Don't beat yourself up about your reduced performance; that's natural after being sick. I'm sure that pretty soon, you'll put on your sequined skirt ;-) and have a killer workout!

    1. LOL! Omg I thought the skirts were bad enough then I saw the sequins and it was just the most ridiculous thing! I like pink but I can't do sequins! I have been prepping super nutritious foods all morning so hopefully I can get my energy back soon.

  6. No worries--we knew you were sick. I hope your energy comes back soon. I understand what a bummer it is to go to the gym and then not have the energy to do what you need to do.

I'm envious of your perfectly chopped salads.

    1. Thanks Sage :) I was just bummed because I know I can do better but I knew it was because I was sick and not because I lost all of my strength in a week :) Oooh then you'll like my dinner tonight! Stay tuned!

  7. Yea!! I'm glad you're starting to feel better, and your cleanse-friendly eats look delicious. There are few things better than avocado on toast.

    1. Thanks Bianca! I'm so glad you popped in :) I totally agree with you, avocado on toast is one of the greatest meals/snacks every. Simple but perfect.

  8. That mashed avocado looks amazing! It is so out of season here that I have trouble find any worth picking up. One of the few things I miss about summer cuisine, avocado!

    1. Thanks! That stinks that you can't find any good avocados near you! I'm lucky to have a pretty nice stock and my local Whole Foods pretty much all the time. They can get expensive but it is worth it for me :)

  9. First and second lunch - LOL! That reminds me of the hobbits in Lord of the Rings...I was sick over the weekend and watched it for the first time so now it seems that I'm drawing comparisons to the movie everywhere...yup, I've officially graduated from nerd school. But the hobbits are known for their love of food, and I can definitely relate to that. :) And also, few things are better than avocado on toast!
