Case of the Mondays

Hello there! Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I had kind of a bad day and didn't eat anything new or exciting so I decided to skip the post. I woke up and decided to get a little cardio in before I started my day. I get in my car and drive toward the gym and my car doesn't feel or sound right. I kind of had a feeling it would be a flat tire so when I got to the gym (thank goodness it is literally a 5 minute drive!) I check it out and sure enough it was flat. Upon further inspection I found a gash that was about the size of a knife. Yup, some little jerk slashed my tire. I had to call AAA to help me get the donut on and then had to get a new tire this morning before work. It happened overnight at some point because I drove my car Saturday afternoon then it sat there until Sunday morning when I went to the gym. So aggravating.

Anyway, sorry for the rant but it was just ridiculous. I'm not a big fan of football so I didn't really care to watch the Superbowl and didn't partake in any fun Superbowl meals. I feel better today, not as sniffly. I've noticed that ever since I started eating a more alkaline diet that my recovery time has become a lot faster. I've also noticed that I don't bruise at all really. I used to be walking around with at least 6 bruises at all times and I haven't seen one since I tweaked my diet. Well until today ha! I hit the bag with an uppercut with the wrong part of my hand and I see something already forming but that is to be expected. I guess I can say that my phantom bruises are gone and that's exciting! It's always great to see results.

Today's meals were really good. I ate a lot of small meals to fuel up for my double training session, which was awesome as always :) Very tough and my shoulder acted up a little but we just did abs for a bit to rest it and put the gloves back on.

Breakfast was a Cherry Chocolate smoothie with lots of spinach.

Late morning snack was an unpictured orange.

Lunch was a yummy chopped salad.

Afternoon/pre workout snack was a slice of Rice Almond gf toast with mashed avocado.

Post workout was an unpictured protein shake.

I haven't had dinner yet because I can even think about eating right now. The workout was tough and after a tough workout  don't really have an appetite. I imagine I'll just throw together a hummus and veggie and stuffed grape leave snacky type plate. For now I'm drinking tons and tons of water.

Have to start getting ready for my trip to Florida! I'm leaving Thursday night so I'll be gone from Thursday-Monday. I'm so excited to see my best friend! It has been almost a year which is way too long! He was supposed to come visit in August but it was the day of the hurricane that he was supposed to fly in so his flight and trip were canceled. I can't wait to see him, it is going to be so fun. I'll make sure to take lots of pics of our yummy vegan eats. He isn't vegan but he is very open minded and is always up for trying a vegan meal.

Have a great night everyone!

  4. Tire slashing seems to be becoming a popular activity, lately. It really sucks that you had to be a victim of that.

I hope you have a great time on your trip!

  5. Oh my gosh, people are terrible. :( What would possess someone to do that to your car?

Thank goodness you have a nice vacation to look forward to. I hope you have a fantastic time, and I can't wait to see pictures! Doesn't vacation food always taste better than normal everyday food?

    1. I have no idea why someone would do that. It is crazy that I have to go check my tires before I get in the car now. So sad that people are doing things like this.

I agree, I can't wait to go! It really does taste better! I think we'll be cooking quite a bit but it won't be super clean like I eat every day so it'll be nice to indulge a little :)

  6. How frustrating to deal with tyrants who target tires! Glad you were able to fix it quickly!

It's so exciting that you've been able to experience faster recovery, and so quickly. I really do believe that proper nutrition can heal - and you are a living example!

I will forever associate that smoothie with you. :)

Super excited for your trip, it'll be warmer and lots of fun!!

    1. Thanks Ingrid, yeah I made sure to take care of it. I was in disbelief and it is funny that every single person I told had the same reaction..."Why would someone do that to you?" I believe in karma though so I think it'll come back to them.

I really am a true believer now that I've seen the benefits of a high raw, alkaline diet. I am not getting cravings for anything anymore either. Believe it or not the chocolate protein powder in the smoothies satisfies a chocolate craving! I think that not being structured into a cleanse actually made a bigger impact than if I felt confined to the "program." jeez I really am a rebel :)

Thanks, I'm excited to go tomorrow!

  7. Do you think it was the creepy guy that sat in your car while it was warming up? Maybe you should file a police report?

    1. No the creepy guy was at work and my tire got slashed at home. My poor car has been so violated lately! If it happens again I'm definitely going to file a report.

  8. My tire was slashed one time quite a few years ago when I used to have to park on the street. I was so mad! What is wrong with some people? Ugh. I'm sorry you had that happen.

I'm not a fan of football, either, so I just read while Mike watched the game.

I'm so jealous that you're going on a trip to a warm place. I hope you have fun!

  9. Thanks Molly. It is crazy, I don't know what possesses people to do things like that. Thanks, I can't wait for tomorrow, it is going to be so fun! We are going to try to get to the beach on Friday while it is still warm :)
