WTF Wednesday :)

Hi everyone! Today is typically my long day where I work 11-9 but today we are closing a bit early so I'm going to work 10-7 then I am going to run to the gym and get a quick bonus cardio session in. I had a few minutes before work so I figured I'd show you most of my meals for today.

For breakfast I had another Cherry Chocolate "Green" Smoothie. I don't understand why it is a different color every time I make it but oh well. I used Vega Choc-A-Lot Shake & Go Smoothie for the first time and let me tell you, this stuff is AMAZING. It has a decadent chocolate taste and a super impressive nutrition profile including 2 servings of veggies, omega 3s, probiotics and protein. This tasted like a rich chocolate milkshake. So good and a super nutritious meal.

As a late morning snack I'm going to eat an orange and some strawberries.

For lunch I am planning on running next door to the deli and grabbing a small serving of rice and beans with some veggies for $2.50. It is a great healthy meal but will be a nice contrast to the same meals I've been eating over and over again.

Speaking of the same meals over and over again, here is another hummus plate with cucumber, carrots, stuffed grape leaves and Mary's Gone Crackers. I'm going to eat this before I leave work so I'll be fueled for my cardio workout.

After the gym I'll have a protein shake.

Sorry no lunch pic but oh well. Hopefully I'll be able to run back to the store tomorrow to pick up the last few ingredients for the dishes I was planning on making.

Have a great Wednesday!

    1. My schedule is very weird, it ranges from a 5 hour day to a 10 hour day (all anything in between). These meals definitely helped fuel me for the day though!

  2. Cherries and chocolate are so good together, even better than strawberries and chocolate in my opinion. I know smoothies are supposed to be a great breakfast, but when I make them, I'm hungry again in an hour. There's no staying power! What am I doing wrong?

    1. Have you tried using a little protein powder in them? I know protein helps you stay fuller longer? I also use a ton of greens in mine, the chocolate totally masks the flavor. They usually keep me full for about 3 hours.

  3. I was on a real Mary's Gone Crackers kick for a while. I always ate them plain, but I bet they're really good with hummus. I assume you buy you stuffed grape leaves already assembled - right? How do they hold up? Do you have to eat them right away or can they last in the fridge for a while?

    1. The crackers are amazing with hummus! Yes I purchase the stuffed grape leaves. I really want to try making them myself but haven't had the chance yet. The ones I buy typically have a few weeks until the use by date but they never last that long!

  4. Why are your hours so hellacious? How are people supposed to live with those hours? More importantly: How does that deli next store stay in business with those low prices?

    1. Oh if only I knew. I really don't like working until 9. I prefer to work early and get out early and I do it as often as possible but can't escape it on Tuesday and Wednesday. The deli has a lot of business and I think the price is only that cheap for me because I only order rice and beans and veggies. They have a lot of meat dishes and larger sizes which are much more expensive.

  5. Ok, fine. You've convinced me to make the Cherry Chocolate smoothie tomorrow morning. :)

Wednesdays are my long days, too. Although my long days involve administrators talking too much during faculty meetings, so I'd rather have your long day! Ha! Wednesdays are also a rest day, but your workout of a little extra cardio sounds good.

    1. oooh I can't wait to hear how you like it! The cherry flavor gets overpowered by the chocolate and I'm trying to figure out how to correct that, but it is still so good!

Haha I think everyone would rather have someone else's long day. I'd rather have yours. I never get to work out on Wednesdays so I'm glad I got my bonus cardio in!

  6. I love the sound of that smoothie!! I've really got to get some frozen cherries and give it a try.

As for the work schedule...I like the sound of those 5 hour days, but then again, I'm a bit of a slacker. :D

    1. Haha I like those 5 hour days too! Tomorrow is a 5 hour day, I'm very excited, especially because I have some recipes to make! Def. try the smoothie, it is so good!

  7. I love cherries from the bottom of my heart, but they're impossible to find frozen out here. One of these summers I'm going to have to buy a ridiculous haul of 'em and have a cherry pitting party, just to have a stash for smoothies in the winter. Because holy yum. Cherries + chocolate = love. Also, I love that stuffed grape leaves are typical eats for you. :)

    1. I LOVE fresh cherries. I eat them by the pound when they are in season. I find my frozen cherries from Whole Foods. This smoothie is divine and there are TONS of greens in there so it is so good for you despite tasting decadent. I think that I may turn into a stuffed grape leave I love these things so much and eat them so often! Yum!
