Fun Friday - Things I'm Loving This Week

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! Another week in the books. I still have work tomorrow but I'll be by myself, it's only a few hours and it'll be mellow. Today was business as usual for the most part. I didn't sleep well last night so I was a bit tired and holy crap was I SORE!! That workout really did the trick!! I definitely need to add more weights into my routine...on my own time though. I'm definitely not switching up the kind of training I do in my sessions.

So for today's post I thought I'd do something different and a little fun! My food is pretty much the same so I thought it would be more interesting to share a few things that I've been really into this week! Some is food related, and some not. Let's take a look!

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned Hurraw! lip balm here before but this week it has been particularly important. The weather here in NY has been back and forth and up and down and it is wreaking havoc on my skin and lips. My lips get particularly bad, which is strange because I'm well hydrated. Like splitting bad. Hurraw! lip balm is by far the best lip balm I've ever used. It is vegan (duh) and raw (duh again), has a great texture and leaves my lips feeling soft. I'm totally addicted to my lime one.

Apple cinnamon Pure bars! Never in a million years did I think I'd like a fruit flavor over chocolate but omg this flavor is PHENOMENAL. It blows the Chocolate Brownie flavor out of the water. Sweet and nutty, raw, vegan, gluten free. Perfect snack!

Yeah yeah yeah I know it is the "hip" thing to do right now, but I'm loving the song "We Are Young" by Fun ft. Janelle Monae. I've heard that album has a cool retro feel to it so I'll have to check it out.

Gluten free Multigrain Puffins!! Cold cereal has made a return to my breakfast! It has been a very happy week indeed.

I've been making my own trail mix this week as a quick snack as well. The mixture I've been enjoying is raw almonds and cashews with dried apples and apricots. Great mix! Try making your own trail mix for a fun, quick, healthy snack!

Beach cruisers!! I have wanted to get a bike for a while now and I've had my eye on beach cruisers the whole time. I love the style and since my rides would be predominantly on concrete it would make sense to get a cruiser over a mountain bike. These babies are EXPENSIVE so I'm hunting around for used but I probably won't be able to get one for a while. Doesn't mean I can't look though! They are so adorable, I love the really vintage looking ones.

So that's just a few things that I've been into this week :) Did you guys like this post? Is it something you'd like to see every week or should I just stick to food? I had fun writing it, I hope you enjoy reading it!

I'm in for the night since I can barely move or keep my eyes open. Bellator fights are on then The Ultimate Fighter Live so I'll be happy curled up in bed.

Have a great night!

  1. So much to say! Ok, I bet your weight training workout was similar to how I used to train - did you do weights with a little aerobic activities in between sets? (i.e. bicep curls, jumping jacks, triceps, lunges) Glad you are feeling it today! :)

I've heard good things about that lip balm, I'll be on the look out for it once I run out. Same goes for the Pure Bars!

I do like the song, and I've heard it on the radio - but never bothered to figure out who sang it! I like a little retro in my pop music.

The beach cruiser looks adorable! I did rent one once, and it left me a bit, um, sore? Ha, ha! No other way to say it! I'd say invest in a really great seat when you do purchase it. ;)

    1. We didn't really do aerobic activities too much, no jumping jacks or anything. I did tons of biceps and triceps, tons of squats and lunges, tons and tons of abs (like no joke I can't even sit up in bed I have to roll over and get up lol!) including crushes and lots of planks. My arms, legs and abs are on fire.

I think you can only order the lip balm online? THe Pure Bars are good. I prefer Larabars for the most part but the apple cinnamon flavor pure bar beats the apple pie larabar for sure!

LOL! After I did my first (and only) spin class I couldn't walk for days so I know what you are saying. I'll definitely keep that in mind!

  2. I'm all for variety, so keep these posts coming! I love my cruiser and will be selling my mountain bike very soon since I no longer ride it. Cruisers are so much more comfy!

Hurraw is some really good lip balm. I've had it before, but not recently.

I love that song, too. :)

    1. That's so cool that you have a cruiser! I'd love to see it! Good to hear that you find it comfy too :)

  3. I love Fun! It is a good album. It's the same singer from The Format so you should check out that band too :)

I haven't tried Hurraw yet because I want to get through all my current balms but I'm eager to try it! The only vegan one I have is a hemp one and I don't love that smell.

    1. That's awesome, thanks for the info I'll have to check them out!

Hurraw is great I think you'll like it! Be careful though, the dark red ones are tinted, I learned that the hard way :) My favs are lime, grapefruit and almond.

  4. Thanks for the tip on the lip balm. I use it almost every day just to keep my lips soft. Do you get Hurraw! at Whole Foods, or can it be purchased in regular stores?

    1. I actually have never seen it at a store. I ordered mine online. You have to get a minimum of three the last time I ordered it which wasn't a problem for me because I like to keep one in each bag that I have (purse, gym bag and camera bag). It is worth it, they last a long time!

  5. love the hurrah too!! puffin gf? i'm f-d. loved those years ago and got them if there was some sale. but don't do sugar so much, and that's usually easy because everything has gluten. but now i feel as if i have dangerous information! :)

    1. They don't have a lot of sugar at all. I think it is 6 grams of sugar per serving. I don't like to do added sugar either but these are pretty low and they are so good! Perfect with some unsweetened almond breeze :)

  6. Who knew there was raw vegan lip balm? Not me until now. I don't buy bars that often but I will keep the Pure apple cinnamon ones in mind when I do. That bike looks so cool; I love the vintage look. LOVE this post so certainly keep these coming!

    1. That's why I love reading blogs so much, you find so many things you never knew existed! I have this weird obsession with cruisers, maybe one day! Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it!!

  7. I didn't train as much for it as I should have. I did a lot of 1-2 mile runs and other cardio but should have done more 3 mile runs haha But I did work on sprints, keeping a 6-7 mile pace and running uphill which helped. The sprints helped a lot! For this one, I am doing a strict 8 week training program I found online which has you run a few times a week (you are supposed to rest in between each run) and then your own strength training, a day of other cardio and a day of something like pilates. :)

    1. Thanks for the info! I was planning on doing some interval training with sprints so that's definitely going to be helpful! Was the strength training to help with the climbs? That would 100% be my biggest concern out of the whole thing!

  8. Yes, I did like this post. I envision riding a bike with smooth supple lips. A beach cruiser would be awesome if you lived somewhere near a beach as well.

  9. Thanks! Ha, I don't live too far from the beach! Maybe 20 minutes? It's not too bad :)

  10. I'm obsessed with Hurraw lip balms too! My favorites are almond, mint, and earl grey tea.

    1. Oooh I haven't tried mint or earl grey but I'll have to keep that in mind! ;)
