Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse Take 2: Day 1

Hey everyone! As you know I've been feeling like shit over the past few days. Headaches, stuffiness, complete exhaustion, extreme flare up of my shoulder and now a major stiff neck. This all made me start to do a little evaluation of what may be causing the problem and I have a feeling processed foods may be part of the problem. I've been a bit lazy lately and have been eating a bit more processed than usual and I think my body may be feeling the effects. I decided that I was going to try the 21 day cleanse in Crazy Sexy Diet again. I was going to wait until Monday to start it but I felt so crappy last night that I decided not to wait and to start today.

I was a bit unprepared for it and didn't have meals planned so I had to wing it today. I think I did ok though!

For breakfast I had a blueberry and banana smoothie with Vega (greens, probiotics and omegas!) and a small handful of spinach. I loaded up on spinach today so I can add more to my next smoothies :)

Watermelon and strawberries for snack.

Big raw plate for lunch! Perfectly ripe mashed avocado, celery, carrot, grape tomatoes and some of the raw cheese-y quackers from One Lucky Duck. It was so good! The crackers were great. They were super savory though so you can only eat a few at a time.

For an afternoon snack I had some Roasted Seaweed. So obsessed with this stuff.

For dinner I had a zucchini boat and a big serving of salad. I got the idea for the zucchini boat on Pinterest and just made a few changes. This is just a half of a zucchini with the seeds scooped out, filled with a few tablespoons of organic, all natural sauce and topped with 1/8 cup of Daiya. Soooooo good!

So overall, a really good clean day of delicious food. The Daiya was the only processed bit of it and I only used a teeny bit (and it's Kris Carr approved!) so overall not bad :) I'm going to make another batch of VaVaBars either tomorrow or Monday and I have a few Larabars to hold me over if necessary. I'm really glad I decided to start it. I don't know if it's mind over matter but I already feel my energy improving.

Tomorrow I am probably going to go to a street fair in the city with the usual crew. I'll do my best to document what I end up eating. Most likely a salad will appear haha :) Wait until you see my breakfast! My goal is to do a green smoothie 5 days a week and a healthy, clean meal the other 2. Tomorrow is going to be so good!

Hope you all have a great night! The Strikeforce fights are on Showtime tonight so I'll be watching that and rooting for Gilbert Melendez! Happy Saturday!

  1. Those were some insane fights! I thought Gilbert had lost but I tend to lose track during those 5 round fights haha

Is that book good? I've been curious about it but haven't had a chance to flip through it. I just don't want to buy it if it's kinda stuff I already know.

Hope you feel better! Whenever I start to feel run down it is generally too much processed food or I'm not eating enough.

    1. The fights were amazing! I think that either Gilbert or Josh could have won. Gilbert had rounds 2 and 3, Josh had 4. I think round 1 was super close and round 5 too. While Josh was on top after that takedown Gilbert was attacking more from the bottom. Very close! I'm just a huge fan of the Cesar Gracie team.

It is a good book but I don't know if it is anything you don't know? She talks a lot of pH and alkalinity and raw foods. You already juice a lot and she talks about juicing. Maybe see if you can get it in a library or borrow it from someone before you make the investment?

Thanks! I'm trying to figure it out. I feel like I'm on my own a lot since I haven't had much luck with Drs. trying to investigate it.

  2. I hear ya! I feel like I'm in survival mode in regards to work, so my meals have been hit and miss. I should glance at CSD for some inspiration! I also find good ideas in Alicia Silverstone's book, I'm guessing we've talked about it before - but remind me, have you read it? Her approach is slightly more macrobiotic, but great nonetheless. Can't wait to see how the cleanse goes!!

I really wish I liked grape and cherry tomatoes because they are so cute. There's something about exploding fruit in my mouth that puts me off - ha! I love all other tomatoes though, so perhaps I'll get over it? :) Zucchini boat looks good.

Sounds like a perfect evening! Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

    1. I have read the Kind Diet! I like a lot of what she says. The macro diet is very interesting but I find it very grain dense... I'll definitely re-read it though, it's worth a shot!

I was the same with grape and cherry tomatoes, the popping in my mouth was off putting at first. I got used to it though and I love them with hummus now! The zucchini boat was delicious and simple!

Thanks, you too! You are so close!

    1. Thank you! I've been eating a little less healthfully lately. I've had more processed food, I've had some wheat and added sugars and that all leads to disaster for me. Once I detox it I'm sure I'll feel better. I'm a step ahead this time though since I'm already off of coffee!

  4. I'm obsessed with Daiya. I make homemade pizzas with it, but many pizza places out here offer Daiya too. I'll have to try the zucchini boat. I'm always so impressed with how clean and healthy your meals are.

    1. Aww thanks Sage :) The zucchini boats are great, definitely give them a try! Daiya is so good but in small quantities. Home made pizza is sooooo good! I haven't found a good gluten free crust yet though. I've heard of people making cauliflower crusts and that sounds so good!
