Grocery Haul!!

Hey everyone. Sorry no post yesterday, it was my long day and I haven't been feeling great lately. I've been feeling incredibly exhausted, cloudy and just overall crappy. My appetite has been low, my neck and shoulders have been acting up again. My shoulders are actually hurting me now, among feeling weak, and my neck is stiff so I think I slept wrong. Not good. I decided that I should cancel today's training session and take it easy. I decided no strength training for the rest of the week and no cardio until at least tomorrow. I figured that the timing is horrible because I just started training for Tough Mudder, but if I take a few days to rest and heal then I will be doing myself a favor rather than making myself more run down or injuring myself.

At least I was finally able to get to the store and buy lots of healthy, yummy eats! Check out the haul!

2 sweet potatoes, 3 zucchinis, carrots, celery, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, organic strawberries (a splurge but they were too gorgeous not to get!), one mango and an avocado.

Organic (no sugar added) ketchup (for those sweet potatoes!!), organic amond milk, 2 vega protein bars. I got the protein bars for a quick protein boost after a workout or if I'm on the go. I also got some Daiya mozzarella because I found an amazing looking recipe that I wanted to try. I figured if Kris Carr uses it in Crazy Sexy Diet it can't be too horrible to use on occasion ;) I also figured I'd use it at this beginning part of my training before I get knee deep. After I read Thrive by Brendan Brazier again this weekend I'm sure I'll be changing my eating habits to complement my training! I was thinking about trying the 21 day Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse again too.  Maybe I'll do it mid training when I'm ready to push it to the next level? I'll see. I'm so not used to training for an actual event, it's throwing me through a loop!

OK, sorry for the short post, I'll be back with food tomorrow :) Including that recipe with the Daiya. It is so simple but looks so good! I'll move my things I'm into post to Saturday for this week.

Have a great night everyone. I'm planning on resting!

  1. Looks like an awesome trip! I love those Vega bars :)

I'm excited to hear about how incorporating Thrive principles impacts your workout, as well as your experience with the Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse (if you do it). I would love another person's perspective!

    1. The Vega bars taste like candy bars but are good for you! I love it!

From what I can tell the Thrive foods will work very nicely with the Crazy Sexy Diet cleanse. I'm going to read everything this weekend and figure it out. I think I need a big detox, I've been a little off in my eating and I think that a cleanse would be a great way to kick off the training. I need to get mind, body and soul on the same page. I'll keep you posted!

  2. We have Daiya sometimes, too. It's the only kind of vegan cheese I can tolerate, other than the nutritional yeast kind (which I love).

Do you mix the ketchup in with the sweet potatoes? I'm intrigued!

I hope you feel better after getting some rest. Sometimes a day off is all you need! :)

    1. Daiya is a great treat and after I make the dish I want to make I'm going to put the rest in the freezer so I can have some later on down the road :) I'll probably be incorporating more nooch into my diet because it is so good for you!

I like ketchup with my roasted sweet potatoes :) It's sooooo good!

      Thanks! I hope so too!

  3. Definitely have to listen to your body, and it sounds like you did. When you're well and healed, you'll be ready to train like never before!

What are your plans for the celery? Ants on a log, I hope! :) I still haven't used up my avocados from Saturday, need to get on that. . . The strawberries are so sweet right now, I know you'll be glad for the splurge. Sweet potato fries, yes?

    1. I try to listen to my body. My body is telling me I need rest and a cleanse. So that is what is about to go down ;) I'll keep you posted on that.

I'm still trying to like raw celery. I don't know why I just have a hard time with it but I know it is really good for you so I'm going to try and snack on it. Hummus and ants on a log are the two things I have planned for it! I have a VERY ripe avocado in the fridge so I'll probably break into that tomorrow. I can't wait for the strawberries! Yes roasted sweet potato fries! Yum!

  4. Those are some nice looking groceries. Strawberry season is definitely upon us and thank god for that. I have a container of strawberries in my fridge that I'm going to break into soon. You know I'm not big on fruit, but I do love berries.

I think it was a good idea to take a day off from training. A rest day isn't slacking; it's part of the training, especially if your shoulder is feeling weak. Have a great Friday!

    1. Thanks! The strawberries are so good!

I agree, I'll be able to hit it hard when it's feeling better. My neck is all messed up. Probably from sleeping wrong. It'll get better though.

  5. I love Daiya vegan cheese...maybe a little too much. They have the option of Daiya cheese at many of the pizza places around here. I love San Francisco!

    1. I know, it is so good! That is so awesome that they have Daiya at pizza places there! It is very rare to find Daiya at a pizza place close to me. Not that it'll matter for the next 5 months ;)

  6. Ketchup on Sweet Potatoes? I bought that same Almond Milk last week. Hope this new cleanse makes you feel better.

    1. You don't use ketchup on sweet potato fries? It's one of the few things I actually eat with ketchup. Before I was vegan I ate EVERYTHING with ketchup! I love this almond milk. Thanks! So far so good!
