Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse Take 2: Day 17

Hey everyone! Day 17, I can't believe it! This cleanse has gone by pretty quickly! Anyway, I hope you all had a good Monday. I had a short day of work then I had an appointment with my doctor. She is sending me for bloodwork which I'll have done tomorrow and has told me that she really wants me to give the anti inflammatory meds a chance to work. I am not thrilled about taking them but I'll give it a try for a few weeks. I'm going to finish up the cleanse before I start them though since I have such a short amount of time left!

I feel so spoiled! I came home from my appointment to find a totally unexpected package from one of my friends! I've known her since college and she is so amazing and one of my favorite people on the planet. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding last summer and she lives in Chicago now. Check out what she sent me!

Munchstaches!

Yes my friends, these are mustache cookie cutters/cookie stamps! She sent a cute little note with them saying that she saw these and knew they needed a good home and that I would provide them with one :) How awesome is she! And yes, they will have a great home here! I'm going to send her a batch as a thank you :)

OK only took a few pics of meals today... you are missing a smoothie and a salad. You've seen it all before.

Hooray for the return of avocado toast! Yum!

The other piece of my spring roll.

And my epic dehydrator fail.

These veggie chips (sweet potato, zucchini and beet) look really pretty and yummy...

...but they taste like crap! They never got crispy, the beets are super bitter, the sweet potato tastes like bendy cardboard. The only one worth trying again is the zucchini. I only seasoned them with salt and maybe that was my problem? I didn't taste salt at all. So gross.

I guess I'll have to try the kale chips and I also want to try to come up with a raw granola recipe. That's next on tap!

My blood tests have to be done on a 12 hour fast so I won't be eating breakfast til after 11 probably. I'll also probably be eating more of the same because I'll be rushing around so my post may or may not include food. It will be cleanse related though!

I hope you have a great night! My trainer and I are working on strengthening my shoulders and doing some extra stretches at the beginning of our workouts. We'll see if the anti inflammatory works too. For now I'll keep running and trucking along. 141 days ;)

  1. That friend definitely knows you.

Sorry your chips didn't taste as good as you had hoped. Maybe with some dip? S&P? Time to let your expectations lower a bit?

    1. I know! She's the best :)

I used salt to season it and I didn't taste it at all. It definitely wasn't high expectations, the beets were really inedibly bitter. I'll try again though!

  2. That's too bad that your first dehydrator experiment didn't work out. I'm sure you'll figure it out, though. I wish I had some advice, but I've only used ours for making stuff for the pups.

What an awesome present to come home too! lol So cool!

  3. Those mustache cutters are hilarious! When you have your vegan bakery, you'll be able to make special manly/father's day treats.

Too bad about the chips...maybe you can use them for a veggie broth or something if they're not good eating as is.

I'll have to try and figure something out but those beet chips have to go. They would ruin anything I try to use them in!

    1. Thanks Caralyn! She really is a great friend, I miss her tons! We can go a while without speaking on the phone but every time we do it's like no time passed at all. That's how you know you have a great friend :) Can't wait to use the cookie cutters!

Thank you! Just a few more days on the cleanse! Although I doubt things will change too much when I'm done with it ;)

  5. Ha! Those moustache cut-outs are hilarious. Too bad about the veggie crisps, maybe they could have gone a bit longer? That's my problem with the dehyrdrator - things take soooo long and I'm really impatient. maybe they needed some oil or other spices as well. Hope the next run is better fot you.

    1. Aren't the awesome! I am going to try out a batch on Sunday I think :) Can't wait to see how they come out! I think they did need to go longer but they were in for 9 hours at that point! I am thinking oil may have helped too. It's all about experimenting I guess!

    1. Funny enough, I don't really consider this a diet! For the first time in my life I eat whatever I want (within guidelines, yes, but totally doable) and as much as I want and I'm feeling great. I don't feel deprived, feel healthier than ever and I'm not obsessive about calories and all of that stuff. I know that I'm doing something good for my body. This is definitely going to be a lifestyle and not a diet :)

  7. The only way you can make cookies better is by turning them into 'taches. Looking forward to see what you create with the cutters!

Sorry about your dehydrator fail- I admit I've had a few as well- it's a whole new piece of equipment that you just have to get used to and experiment with! You'll get there!

    Have an awesome day :)

I'm not too concerned with the fail :) Like everything, it takes time and I'll get the hang of it! Definitely going to switch gears and try some granola next! Yum!

      You too!

    1. Thanks Jessy! I already have plans for my next experiment ;) Just need some time to try it out! This weekend hopefully!

I know they are so awesome! Between the mustaches and my ninjabread men I'm stocked with some pretty amusing cutters! I think I see the start of a cookie cutter collection!

  10. What an awesome gift! I can only imagine what cute cookies you'll make with those cut-outs! Between the ninjas and the moustaches, you have a lot of adorable options. :)

It's all about experimenting, and I wouldn't have the first clue about how to use a dehydrator, let alone make anything! They do look perfectly dried, I bet with a few tweaks to the recipe - and the next batch will be perfect! Yum - kale chips! I wanted to make some yesterday, but turning on the oven always sounds gross on a hot day.

Hoping the bloodwork goes well today!

    1. Haha I know I'm so excited about my mustache cutters! The ninjas and the mustaches are so fun, I'm thinking about starting a fun cookie cutter collection! I'm such a nerd but they are so fun!

I know what you mean about the oven on a hot day! That is why summertime is high raw for me. Cooked food gets to be unappealing when it's so hot! Definitely want to try the kale chips though.

Thanks! Everything seemed to go well :) Now I just need to wait for the results!

    1. Haha I think that it is a right of passage when owning a dehydrator! Fails will happen but we just have to keep experimenting! We'll totally start rocking out awesome raw treats from them :)

      Thanks for stopping in!
