Business Cards and Busted Cars

Today has turned out to be the strangest day. I woke up with an evening packed with activity and places to be...and I ended up home. My training appointment got canceled (wah, total bummer) and I was supposed to do headshots for a friend of mine and her mother for their business cards. She canceled as well. It was fine though because I had SO MUCH to do so I was happy for the free time.

First some happy news! I finally ordered business cards for my small vegan baking venture and they showed up today! There is a great company called MOO that does custom printing. What sets them apart is that you can upload different photos for every business card (up to 50 I believe). I was going to do the cheap standard cards but I think it is important for customers to see the product so I chose some of my favorite pics and decided to just go for it. They came out AMAZING. I'm so happy, the card stock quality is amazing and the print quality is gorgeous. Check them out!

The back of the cards is simple with all of my info. These are worth every penny.

So after I got home it was about 5pm. I decided to run to Whole Foods because I haven't been there in like a week and a half and I'm living off scraps here. That's part of the reason I have no food to post for you lately! So I go and the traffic is so horrible I turned around after about a half mile. I decided to do my laundry then I'd go. Wrong. I get into my car and it is totally dead. Not a stutter, no blinking light, just total stillness. Sigh. Can't catch a break.

Oh well, it is what it is. It'll get fixed and life will go on. I'm just glad it didn't happen while I was AT Whole Foods! I'll just have to piece together some meals and be boring and eat the  same thing for a few more days.

It's almost Friday!

  3. Those cards are awesome! I'm sure they'll catch peoples' attention make you stand out. Good luck with your baking venture. I know you can make a success of it!

Too bad about the car....just when you had some leisure time. As you say, life goes on...and tomorrow being Friday takes some of the sting away from it.

  4. Sounds like a weird night. Times like that I give up and settle in, but then again I don't have a car. That makes the night a lot more stressful. Sorry to hear about it all.
The cards look cute, though! So were those your photos on the cards you sent along with yr baked goods? Exciting first step; I hope the business works out for you!

  5. Shen - Thanks! Ugh I know, seriously, I have these long waves of bad luck...probably why I love training so much, I get out a lot of aggression that way!

Molly - Thanks, I hope so too! I had a great experience with them. They are a bit pricey but it is seriously worth it. I'm going to have to check out their cards and postcards.

Rose - Thanks! I was hoping that the pics would help them stand out so we'll see :) Now that the winter has come and I have more time I'll hopefully be able to cultivate it a little more. The timing on the car is impeccable but it'll all work out.

FF - Definitely a weird night. I did exactly what you would do which was settle in for the night and just enjoy my down time. And thanks! The cards I sent with the baked goods actually were not my photos. SOmeone had seen the cupcake cards set and got them for me as a little gift which was sweet. I am planning on printing postcards or notecards with my own photos though :)

  6. I'm hoping that by now your car is back in working shape! Was it the battery? As you said - thank goodness you weren't at the store and stranded!

LOVE the business cards, they are awesome! I'm so excited for you to move forward, and make your dream a reality!!

  7. The Card design is great also because of the die cut. Again, it is creative and something that people would want to hang on custom business cards.

    Thanks for the inspiration!
