A Productive Sunday

Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. I had an amazing weekend and soaked up the warmth and sunshine. Today I was actually really productive. I had decided that I need to go through all of my stuff and just stop hoarding and throw crap out. I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff and have been doing a thorough cleaning while I de-clutter and it feels really good. I basically just opened up my windows, put the tv on (and luckily they were playing some fun movies back to back) and just dove in. I love the feeling of accomplishment :) I still have a lot to go through but it feels good to finally get started.

I ate some pretty great stuff today. Check it!

For breakfast I made this beautiful ramekin of baked oatmeal with some blueberries baked right in. It was so delicious! I ate half of it. This was really filling so I decided to just save the other half and enjoy it another day (well tomorrow ha!).

For snack I had some cantaloupe. It was pretty good! I can't wait until it is super sweet and juicy.

For lunch I had some stuffed grape leaves, grape tomatoes, carrot and hummus. Delicious as always.

Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of dinner. We had a big family dinner and it was a little chaotic so I decided to not deal with taking a pic. Luckily there is a close frame of reference since I had the same exact quesadilla from yesterday with some salad. It was really yummy.

Back to the grind tomorrow. Looking forward to a relaxing night tonight. Hope you all enjoy your Sunday evening :)

  1. So awesome that you de-cluttered some! I found that it's best to do it little by little rather than all at once. It helps keep you motivated to do more as you have time & you won't burn out from it. :)

I've really got to try baked oatmeal, especially with blueberries. Yum! I'm really looking forward to eating fresh melon & berries on a regular basis again.

    Have a great night, Sarah!

    1. Thanks Molly! I agree, little by little is definitely the way to go! Seeing the progress I made also motivates me to keep going.

Definitely try the baked oatmeal! I've had it with chocolate chips, raisins and blueberries and I liked the blueberries best. Next time I'm going to try adding a little lemon zest. I think it'll add a really fresh, bright pop of flavor.

      Thanks, you too!

  2. Sounds like you're still on a good streak with the weather in your parts! Good for you on the cleaning and the declutter! Food looks yummy, as usual!

    1. Yes we've been so lucky! I've been soaking up every second of it :)

      Thanks!

  3. Uhh, right now I'm sat in my room surrounded by a butt-load of clutter. I'm a bit of a hoarder sometimes, too.
I collect a bunch things so I have different areas of my room with huge piles of..stuff. Hah! I'm just a messy person anyway, but I need to de-clutter. So good that you got the chance to do that today!

I haven't had oats in so long (bad reaction to some gluten-tainted oats a month or two ago) but your baked oatmeal looks awesome. Blueberries are out right now? Man.
    Great day today! :)

    1. It's funny because I happen to enjoy organized chaos. Every time I clean I feel a bit out of sorts and have to get used to it. Go figure I'm a virgo! One of the ways I don't fit the description I guess lol. I just save the most stupid, random crap. Slowly getting rid of it though :)

Oh no! Do you buy gf oats? I got a huge bag of them at Trader Joe's for pretty cheap. I used frozen blueberries. The berries I've eaten over the past month or so have been hit or miss so I'm going to wait until summer to hoard the fresh berries :)

    2. Haha, I'm the same! I feel weird when things are too organized. My work is super organized and sometimes I make a bit of a mess on purpose (just so that I don't go insane). I used to get into trouble for it but now everybody just lets me do my own thing :D
I don't know much about the description for Virgos.. but I'm a Taurus! :) I save random crap too - I always feel like I'll need it eventually.

Yes! I do buy gf oats, which is frustrating because I trusted them to be safe. Oh I see! Frozen berries to the rescue. I can't wait for the summer so that I can buy blueberries. I have a blueberry bush but it's too young to give fruit yet :(

    3. Virgos are supposed to be perfectionists, pay attention to details, very organized...very Type A personality. I am not a typical Virgo, but I'm also a cusp so I take on a lot of Libra traits I think. My parents are both Taurus, Virgos and Taurus' get along really well!

That is crazy that they were contaminated GF oats. The frozen blueberries are great in a pinch and that is so cool that you have a blueberry bush! I'm jealous!

    4. Haha, that's awesome that you know so much about astrology. I basically only know what sign I am, and I don't know what a cusp is.. hah! My birthday is May 1st, so I think I'm a solid Taurus though.
And that's so funny that Virgos and Taurus' get along really well! No wonder we have a lot in common :) Also funny that both your parents are Taurus'. I think I read that two together butt heads a lot.

Blueberry bushes are a bit of a pain. They take at least 2 years to fruit, and they have to be surrounded by other blueberry bushes first. I guess they get lonely :)

    5. Yeah two taurus' can definitely butt heads :) They are supposed to be stubborn so it's not surprising! ;) A cusp means I'm on the border of two signs. I'm the last day of Virgo and cusp signs frequently take on traits of both signs. I think I'm more Libra but oh well ha!

Stay patient and I'm sure you'll get the best reward! Fresh blueberries an arm's length away? Sounds good to me!

  4. Apologies for the tortilla freak out! For some reason I thought you purchased the same brand. It's our only choice out here. Anyway, I feel like an idiot! :)

Cleaning out stuff is so cathartic. Glad you enjoyed the day!

I considered baked oatmeal this morning, yours looks delicious!

Cantelope!! Now I really want it to be summer, all those melons in full season!

    1. No worries! Trust me, I've had many a freak out in my day. I don't think I've ever seen gf tortillas in WFs which is so weird and why I stock up when I go to Trader Joe's. Definitely no need to feel like an idiot though!

Thanks! I agree, it was cathartic and will continue to be so for the like 28407534983 years it'll take for me to get through the rest. :)

The baked oatmeal was great, definitely give it a try with the blueberries! I think you'll like it :)

I know I can't wait for summer too! The melons, berries and CHERRIES are on my mind!

  5. De-cluttering feels great. It sounds as if the spring-like weather inspired you to do it.

You mention a family meal. Is anyone else in your family vegan or vegetarian? If not, are they at least supportive of you? (If you don't mind my being nosey...)

    1. The spring weather was definitely inspiring!

I am the only person in my family that is vegan. No vegetarians either. My sister in law is the closest to it and she's just a picky eater. She eats meat but only specific kinds in specific ways. They are super supportive of me and always concerned that I'll be able to eat something in a situation where I'm not cooking for myself. They are very great about that. :)

  6. I would love to declutter some but both G and I work with paper a lot - he and his comics and me with my zines and collages and poetry - so it's really hard to feel like I've made a dent in getting rid of things. But I'd really love to ditch a lot of our crap. It's depressing.
Anyway, the food all looks great. Ditto on the melons - can't wait for some tasty canteloupe.

    1. OMG so much of my clutter is papers! Recipes, old bills to shred and just random crap that I don't throw out. It is so stupid that I let it pile up so the big cleanse will be good!

Thanks! Summer fruit is so good, can't wait for it! The warm weather is such a tease too.

  7. Decluttering is a great accomplishment. I just feel bad moving the clutter to the landfills.

How come no pics of Delilah from the family picnic? She's still cute, isn't she?

    1. Of course she is still cute! ;) Just been lazy about photographing in my free time. That's the bad thing about looking at photos all day every day. I'm going to see her on Saturday I'll get a few for ya!
