A Pretty Great Food Day!

Hey everyone! As you can see recently, I've been focusing on eating more often, with the goal of keeping my metabolism revved up throughout the day. It also balances hunger, eliminates cravings (at least for me) and keeps me energized. I highly recommend eating this way. Plus, you get to eat a wider variety of food every day! Who doesn't love that!

I started off my morning with an early workout on my own at the gym. I did 30 minutes on the arc trainer (I wanted to try intervals on the treadmill but my legs were like lead) and then followed it with this arm workout:

I only did 2 sets because my shoulders were at failure and I couldn't lift my arms. I then realized that I'm clearly in the middle of a massive flare up and I should take my anti inflammatory meds. I don't like to but sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what you have to do to feel better. I can't believe I didn't realize it was just flared up and not necessarily permanently worse. I can be pretty dense sometimes :)

Anyway, after the arm circuit (wish I was on the beach!) I did some ab exercises too. It felt like a great, well rounded workout.

Then I got to grubbin ;) Check out my Tuesday meals. Some are packed for work, but you know the deal for Tuesdays.

For my post workout breakfast I needed a big protein boost so I made a protein shake with Unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, Chocolate Vega Performance Protein Powder, 1/2 banana and ice.

Late morning I had the other half of my banana with some all natural peanut butter, raisins, cinnamon and a cup of the amazing Orange Carrot tea I had tried a month or two ago and the coffee house. Finally got a tea ball strainer thingy ;)

I won't lie to you, this lunch was pretty stellar. I was craving pizza so I decided to do it up my way ;) GF brown rice tortilla crisped up then topped with some sauce, steamed zucchini and spinach. I popped it back in the oven to heat it through then topped it off with some garlic powder and nooch. Who needs cheese?!

My afternoon snack is going to be kind of random. I need to go to the store desperately but probably won't be able to get there until Friday afternoon so I'll be throwing meals together the next few days. Anyway, for snack I'm finally going to try So Delicious Greek Style yogurt (chocolate flavor) and the other half of my carrot from...

My gorgeous salad for dinner! Greens, carrots, cucumber, grape tomatoes, chickpeas and some avocado on top. Dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. This is going to be awesome!

I hope you all have a great day! I'll be home after nine, looking forward to relaxing after work. So far the anti inflammatory med seems to be taking away some discomfort I've been having so that is good. I may ask my trainer to skip the boxing/kickboxing (I know, shocking right?) on Thursday and maybe I'll just focus on cardio and lower body this week. Once I get through the flare up I'll be ok so I'm glad I figured it out.

Catch up with you later :)

  1. I REALLY want to try the new Greek yogurt, but my Whole Foods doesn't sell it. :-( I look for it there every week ... literally.

    1. Sooooo now that I've tried it I'll be honest, I wasn't a huge fan. It tasted off to me. Like really sour and not good and I checked the date and it was fine. Maybe it was just the flavor I got? I couldn't eat more than one spoon of it!

Thanks! It is my fav mug, I got it as a birthday gift 8 years ago!

  2. That salad is gorgeous! The pizza sounds great, too. I feel better if I eat smaller amounts more often throughout the day, too.

I'm glad the meds are helping your shoulders. Shoulder pain sucks!

    1. Thanks Molly!! The pizza was so delicious! The best I've had in a long time so it'll definitely appear again :)

Thanks! It is only temporary relief but I'm hoping it'll help get through this flare up faster.

  3. And I'm sure you did your arm exercises in a bikini top, right? :)

I have a lot of dance aerobics DVDs, but I always judge them based on what the instructor is wearing. Your pizza looks awesome!

  4. Sounds like a great day! Your workout seems perfect, always important to listen to your body, and you did have a double session yesterday. Running takes a lot of energy (which is why I so desperately want to do it first thing in the morning)! I saw that arm workout, awesome!

Hooray for the tea ball! They make fresh tea so much fun. Your pizza is to die for! The rice tortillas are perfect as a crust. I've come to point where I don't crave vegan cheese either. Nooch is all you need, in my opinion! Yum!

    1. The workout was good! I'm glad I got in there! I'm going to try for 30 minutes of cardio tomorrow morning before work but I'll see what time I get up. My shins are on fire from the run but I remember the last time I started up I stopped getting shin splints after a week or so.

This tea is sooooo good! The pizza was phenomenal, definitely give it a try! The tortilla makes a perfectly thin, crisp crust!

  5. That work out looks intense haha! But im going to try it at a much slower pace with less reps to start. That girl makes it look like no big whoop. I really want to work on upper body and core strength. Im learning all these new yoga poses right now and im so ambitious to try them, im just not strong enough yet!

    1. It is a great workout, definitely do it at your own pace! I did all 4 exercises in a row and then took about a minute rest between the sets. My shoulders were on fire. I am actually interested in seeing how it is when they are feeling better. I know it is crazy how she is just going through reps like no big deal! I'm assuming you are trying out some inversions in yoga? ;) I am so far from that point but maybe one day!

  6. I love Vega! A little tip to make it last longer - mix a half a scoop of chocolate Vega with 1/2 scoop of raw protein, plus a tablespoon of cacao (and any other add ins).. not only is it cheaper, but I prefer the taste :)

Your salad looks delicious - per usual. I've been a salad eating fool lately. Love 'em!

    1. Oh thanks for the tip! That's awesome! I'm also going to try to only use protein powder after a heavy workout. After cardio I'll try to eat a protein heavy meal, maybe rice and beans or tofu scramble or something.

Thanks! Salads are so great, especially in the warmer weather!
