Weekend Wrap Up

Hey everyone! Sorry I didn't post yesterday, this weekend turned into absolute craziness! I woke up at the crack of dawn yesterday and got in an hour of cardio before work. I ended up working late because clients showed up 5 minutes after I was supposed to leave (instead of a half hour before like they said) and then locked my keys in my car after running errands. Yeah it was that kind of day! I ended up babysitting Delilah last night (sorry no pics, she went to bed like 15 minutes after I showed up) so I was out and about all day.

I spent most of the day cleaning, doing laundry and cooking (spaghetti squash hell yeah!). I haven't photographed all of my meals but here is a little bit of what I've eaten.

GF Multigrain Puffins with *cough Chocolate cough* unsweetened Almond Breeze. Don't judge me for using chocolate milk in my cereal, it was awesome! ;)

Hummus plate.

There was also avocado toast and salad and whatnot. Same old.

After I got home from the key locked in the car situation my mood was brightened after finding my package of goodies I ordered from Pangea! Check out the treats!

Gluten free german chocolate cake cookies (it comes in a 2 pack!).

Alternative Baking Company brand gluten free pumpkin spice cookie!

All cookies were cut in half and put in the freezer for an occasional treat. I like to have small treats on hand for dessert on a special occasion and I saw these and decided to get them!

This was the actual reason I placed the order. This is vegan "egg yolk" that I saw on Bianca's awesome blog, Vegan Crunk. This stuff is supposed to be good for things like French Toast and tofu scrambles. I can't wait to try a tofu scramble with it! The cookies were actually added on to the order to justify the $7 shipping charge.

Today I also did my nails, check them out!

I was inspired by Sophie who always has the coolest nails! I saw her use this glittery polish and was obsessed with it :)

So the last major thing that happened this weekend was that I re-evaluated my fitness goals. I had to cut my Monday double sessions to singles because it was getting too expensive to use 3 sessions a week. I've also realized that as much as I hate to think this way, it will be really hard for me to really compete in a legit fight situation if my shoulder continues to weaken. I am still going to use my sessions as fight training, and I'll continue to train hard and be the best I can be, but I think that realistically my body has different plans than my heart in this case.

However, I find that I perform better when I set specific goals so I wanted to set more goals. I've been really interested in biking lately (even though I haven't started yet, ha!) and I really want to get back into running, so I've decided that I want to train for a 5k in the form of either the Warrior Dash or Run For Your Lives (the Warrior Dash was also inspired by Sophie!). I think the obstacles and mud and zombies will help keep my mind off of the whole running thing ;) I also am debating whether or not to maybe start training for a Duathlon (well a duathlon spint to start with) in the future. I'm going to talk to a trainer at the gym who is really into cycling and ask him how to go about training for that leg of it. We'll see though, these are just thoughts :) I also need to get back in the game with weight training. My session from Thursday really made me realize I need to get back into that. It's all about balance!

So, all in all it has been an eventful weekend. After dinner I'm going to go with my sister in law to get my massage :) I'm very excited, it's my first one!

I hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

  1. So much good stuff!

The chocolate milk in the cereal is totally something I would do (hellooo, chocolate addict over here), and those gluten-free cookies look killer.

I saw the vegan egg yolk on Food Fight's website, but it really freaks me out. Let us know how it turns, for you!

Oh and - LOVE the nail polishhh!

    1. Thanks Isobelle! Haha the chocolate milk in the cereal was by far the best idea I've had in a while ;) The cookies smell great I can't wait to eat them!

It doesn't freak me out because I know what it is. The thing that freaks me out about eggs is knowing what it is, and knowing that the fake stuff is basically just nooch and black salt and a few other things kind of sits well with me.

      Thanks! I love it too!

  2. That stinks that you locked your keys in the car. :( Hopefully it wasn't a fiasco for you to retrieve them.

I don't blame you for using chocolate almond milk in your cereal. That stuff is so good! I'm drinking coffee again & have been filling the mug with it about 1/3 of the way full.

I haven't had one in a while, but I love the ABC cookies.

It's admirable that you're reassessing your fitness goals. I've had to do it before and had a really hard time coming to terms with things, so I know how difficult that can be. I think your new goals are excellent! I'm very jealous, too. Right now I'm just focusing on being able to get back into shape. Ugh.

The nail polish is awesome. :)

    1. It was kind of a bummer but my mom had the spare so she brought it to me. The only thing that sucked was having to wait a half hour but it definitely could have been worse!

Oooh that sounds great in coffee! The cookie smelled so good and spicy!!

Thanks. It was really difficult for me because I've been working on it for a long time but my shoulders are just not cooperating. I'd still like to spar and I think that could happen, but competing would be tough if I don't know what shape my shoulders will be in. I know it is frustrating for you too but you are doing a great job!

      Thanks!

  3. Your nails look so pretty. It's been ages since I've painted my nails.

That's too bad that you have to re-evaluate your fitness goals. I understand the feeling of your heart wanting more than your body can handle. I think the Run For Your Lives race looks like so much fun, and fitness should be fun.

    Enjoy your massage!

    1. Thanks!! I love this glittery top coat!

Yeah is pretty tough to wrap my mind around because I love the fight training which is why I'm going to continue with it, but I have to be realistic. I also think that being more well rounded will be incredibly beneficial for me.

Thanks!! I'm heading out right now!!

  4. I love getting packages, even when I know exactly what's in them, ha, and it looks like you got some fun stuff! Yeah, can't wait to see how the Vegg works for you. I don't order stuff online too often, though I always think about it but I just get either overwhelmed by the amount of stuff and can't think of anything to get, or I get too much stuff I don't need! But the cookies sound awesome.
    Enjoy the massage!

    1. Getting packages is always so fun!! I was really overwhelmed by how much they had but I somehow managed to zero in on a few things! I can't wait to try the cookies!

      Thanks, it was great!

  5. I just spent 10 minutes looking at that site, and plan to go back! They sell Alternative Baking Company cookies at all of our WFs, and let me tell you - they are AWESOME! Can't wait to hear what you think about the rest.

What a busy weekend! I'm glad you were to see your niece, even if it was only for a moment before bedtime! I've not locked my keys in my car, but I have left my keys in the back door (outside the house) overnight. *facepalm* Glad you got it remedied!

I am SO EXCITED about your training plans! Mixing it up sounds perfect, and participating in running events is so much fun!!

    1. That site has SO MUCH STUFF, it is so overwhelming, I want to buy everything! Definitely excited to try everything!

I got to see Delilah again today, she is so cute :) Oh I've left my keys in the door overnight too, not good!

Aww thanks! I'm pretty excited, I'm hoping that mixing it up will help! I also talked to my sister in law and our friend and we talked about rollerblading this spring and summer so hopefully I'll be able to rock them like it's 1996! ;)

  6. Hey! Sorry to take so long to respond! But you don't have to mix the whole Vegg pack at once. One teaspoon plus one cup of water equals one egg. You can just use a little bit at a time.

  7. Nothing wrong with a little chocolate almond milk in your cereal. It's still probably healthier than a lot of other breakfasts you could eat.

As you probably know from reading my blog, I love vegan cookies. I'm glad you could find some that are also gluten-free.

    Love the manicure!

  8. The chocolate milk was really good :) It is unsweetened so it's not THAT bad for you ;)

Vegan cookies are awesome and homemade ones are always a treat! The ones I got will be good though!

Thanks! Usually I make a mess when I do my nails but they came out pretty good this time!

  9. Ahahahahaha! I love the cereal pic! I have been so busy recently that I can relate to the quick meals. That looks like what I have been eating everyday! Glad I am not the only one who thinks cereal is bad ass.

    1. I love cereal a lot and rarely ever get a chance to eat it! Now that I found this gluten free one though I will be able to eat it more often! Sometimes there is nothing better than a bowl of cereal for dinner ;) Try chocolate "milk" in it. You won't regret it! ;)

  10. I used to lock my keys in my car all the time. Just getting gas I would do it. Sucks so bad. Although I never had a homeless guy sit in my car while it was warming up...

Enjoy your gluten free goodies. I've had those cookies and they are fantastic.

    1. Ha! The worst part is the guy isn't homeless, he lives above the business next door so I actually see him a lot. it takes a lot not to crack him in the face.

Oh a good endorsement from Shen! Now I'm really excited to try them!

  12. cute nails! i need to get some new polish. there are so many cute glittery ones.

i think it was a great idea using chocolate almond milk on your puffins! i've just started using almond milk and i like the taste better than soy (just wish it had as much protein), but i haven't seen chocolate almond milk around here. yum!
