Oats in a Glass

Hey everyone! Hope you all had a good Monday :) Mine was pretty good, had a good training session and I'm getting ready to meet up with some friends for a drink (although I don't plan on actually drinking). I wanted to share a quick recipe with you before I left though. I made it for breakfast this morning and it was SO GOOD.

If you recall, I shared this gorgeous bowl of oats with you a few days ago.

Pretty huh? I've been craving it a lot since I ate it but it has gotten pretty warm here in NY so I don't really want to eat hot oatmeal first thing on a hot morning so I tried to figure out a way to cool it down. There is always overnight oats but it is hard for me to eat it like that. I don't know why but I really have to be in the mood for it. I think it is a textural thing.

Anyway, I saw this post by Gabby and knew that would be the perfect way to cool off my favorite bowl of oats.

Check out this beautiful Morning Oats Smoothie! It definitely tasted amazing, I'm glad I decided to try this smoothie. It'll definitely be a summer staple and I'm sure I'll start adding some greens to it too.

Morning Oats Smoothie

1/3 cup oats (I used gluten free)
1 cup plant milk (I used Unsweetened Almond Coconut Almond Breeze)
1 tbsp shredded coconut
1 tbsp finely chopped walnuts
1 tbsp raisins
cinnamon

1 small frozen banana

Directions:

The night before, mix all ingredients in a bowl and refrigerate overnight to soften everything. In the morning add your overnight oats with toppings along with your frozen banana to a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!

So good! Let me know if you try it/like it :) I have to get ready to head out but I'll catch up on your blogs when I get home. Have a great night!

    1. Thanks for the inspiration Gabby! The combination is really delicious and I was so happy that I blended it into a smoothie. I definitely see this breakfast happening on hot summer days!

I got that mug from the "Vegan Dish" store on Etsy. I LOVE this mug and I wish I could get more but they are a bit pricey. Well worth it though!

    2. Ya I have seen those mugs before and almost bough one probably a hundred times. But you're right, the price tag is always what deters me. Ah well, someday :)

    1. Thanks Ingrid! I hope you like it! I kind of almost tastes like a cross between yummy banana bread and a bowl of oatmeal!

Thanks I had a great time!

  4. I kinda like cold oatmeal. But I eat cold spaghetti and cold pizza too. I don't eat anything super hot, and I even let my tea cool down to almost room temperature. Weird, I know. I must be sensitive to heat.

    1. That's funny, I'm actually a fan of cold food too. I do prefer my oats hot but I'll eat almost all of my leftovers cold and I actually really like cold pizza too :) I have a friend that would let his hot drinks or food cool down before he could eat it too. He couldn't eat or drink piping hot things so I can definitely see the heat sensitivity!

  6. Well, it does look good, but you know me and smoothies so I think for now I'll just stick to warm oats in a bowl. I hope you had a fun meet up with your friends.

    1. Haha I know you aren't a fan of smoothies. Warm oats is always an excellent option though, I'm just a baby about the heat. I had a really great time, thanks!
