Ready for the Weekend

Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well :) Business as usual here, worked then had a training session. I decided that I'm going to do the Tough Mudder run. I'm scared as hell but I think it'll be a really amazing experience and a huge confidence booster. I spoke to my trainer and starting at the end of May we are going to devote one of my sessions each week to running and strength training. I'll keep doing my fight training the other day. This will be great because I will work on increasing my strength and stamina, AND it'll be a good way to rest my shoulder from the impact of hitting the heavy bag or pads. I'll also obviously be running and doing strength training on my own to try and get ready for this beast of a challenge. I'm really excited and will be taking my training very seriously these next 165 days (but who's counting!).

I took photos at the beginning of the day but somehow missed out on photographing lunch. If you are interested please check out my Mediterranean Bento Box from yesterday's post. It was the exact same thing!

Breakfast was a "banana split" with all natural peanut butter, raisins and cinnamon.

My mangoes are finally ripe! Late morning snack!

As I mentioned, lunch was a Mediterranean Bento box.

After my workout I had half of this Chocolate Coconut Water. It is a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth. This is the only flavor of Zico that I actually enjoy, it tastes like chocolate milk with no guilt!

No dinner yet but I'll probably have quinoa with veggies.

I am almost finished making my mom's Mother's Day gift. I wanted to show you all and get your opinion before I adhere the photo to the wood plaques. Do you think I should distress the edges a bit or leave them?

This is one of my favorite photos of Delilah :)

And here's the one of me.

I also made one of my bro and sister in law but didn't know how they'd feel about it being on here so I decided to leave it off. The plaque for theirs is actually painted white and the photo is in color because it is one of their wedding photos on the beach so it was bright and pretty blue and it would be silly to make it black and white. I figured theirs would go in the middle. So anyway, what do you think, distressed the edges or no?

Hope you are all well. Glad it is Friday tomorrow but I have my first wedding of the season on Saturday so I have another long day before my day off. Oh well, at least my day off will be spent with my family having a nice time for Mother's Day :)

Have a great night and a Happy Friday tomorrow!

  1. I like the distressed edges idea. I love things that look old!

  2. I would go with distressed edges, too. It gives it a really nice look!

That's so exciting that you're doing the challenge. I'll be looking forward to hearing about it and that's great that you have several months to train for it. I'm sure it'll be challenging but a lot of fun!

    1. Thanks Molly! I think I'm going to go distressed :)

I know! It is exciting but I'm scared! Lol! I think that it's going to force me to be super serious about my training which is a good thing :) I can't believe I'm going to do it!

  3. Distressed!

Btw, I got those chips I won. SO GOOD. I actually spotted them on sale where I get groceries earlier in the week so I bought a bag then but was eating raw that week so I waited until after I'd received the one you sent to eat any haha I love them so much! The box arrived super beat up! It was pretty funny. Like it was all ripped, dented, had a hole... but the chips survived ;)

    1. Thanks!!

I can't believe that the box was so damaged! That is so annoying! Sorry, I should have told them it was fragile but I'm glad they survived! I'm glad you enjoyed them though! :)

  4. Cool gifts for mom's day! I love those pics; you both look so sweet and fetching.

I hope you have a good weekend...sounds like a long hard day at the wedding, but seems like it would be fun too.

Oh, and I'm so out of the loop, but very cool that you're training for a run!

    1. Aww thanks Rose! :)

The day will definitely be long and difficult. You can usually tell how it will go before you even get there and this looks like a tough one.

      Thanks! I'm excited for it!

  5. Congratulations on committing to the (scary) race. It will be interesting to hear about your training. I'm planning on doing a 5K of some sort this summer, but it won't be anything as scary as a mud run!

Count mine as another vote for distressed edges. I think that's a cool look. Those are nice photos too.

    1. Thanks Miss Rachel! I will definitely be keeping you all posted on my training over the next 5 months. That's awesome about the 5k!

  6. Congratulations on signing up for the race! Planning with your trainer sounds like a fantastic idea, you'll totally kill the competition. :)

I'll have to look for that coconut water - sounds fantastic!

I can't wait to see the final product of your gifts. I love homemade presents: the creativity, the thoughtfulness - all of it. My mother, however, is getting a massage - not too creative on my part! Ha!

Wedding season already?! Gosh, it came quickly - but I suppose May would be a good time. I hope it's not too laborious!

    1. Thanks Ingrid! I *think* he is planning on running with the team too so that will be cool! Hopefully I get my ass in gear by then lol, I don't want to end up laid out on the course LOL!

Thanks! Haha my mom isn't into massages and gave me the "I don't want anything, don't get me anything" so I decided to just make something.

I hope it goes easier than I'm expecting it to!

  7. Go with distressed edges. Everything's better slightly imperfect (just like all of us).

I don't think I ever told you that I received the chips from your giveaway (whoops!). They were freakin' amazing and I gobbled them up so fast. They were my Cinco de Mayo treat along with a bunch of guacomole. Yummers! Thanks for hosting the giveaway. :)

    1. Yay I'm so glad you liked them! I bet they were so good with guacamole! I didn't even make it that far lol!
