Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse Take 2: Day 16

Hey everyone! I can't believe I've already made it to Day 16 of this cleanse! I feel like it has gone really quickly! I am excited and feel like it has been really successful in terms of how I feel and also in how I've experimented with creating new meals and not getting stuck in a rut.

The wedding went by pretty quickly yesterday. I was working with two photographers yesterday and ended up carrying all of their stuff. One bag was at least 40-50 lbs alone, then I had two other smaller bags to carry. Needless to say my shoulders and back are feeling a bit jacked up today but I was able to rest and hopefully I'll be ok for my training session tomorrow. They had a great party though so the time went quickly! They were standing on chairs and jumping off speakers, it was hilarious! Cocktail hour wasn't as good as the last time I was at this hall but I still had some fruit and they had stuffed grape leaves! Score!

I woke up at about 7:15 today (after not so much sleep) and decided that it was a gorgeous morning and I'd be silly if I skipped the farmers market to stay in bed. I dragged my ass out of bed and drove about 30 minutes to the market. I made today a rest day for working out but still decided to park on the other side of town so I'd get a nice walk in. The weather was so perfect this morning I'm so glad I did that. We had a bit of a sun shower this afternoon though, more on that later ;)

The market was much bigger than last year, some more vendors must have signed up. There were still only 2 produce vendors but they had some more bakery type stalls, some with home made spreads, one with aromatherapy type stuff which was vegan friendly and smelled so good (I'm going to get something next time) and some other ones. The produce stalls had the same stuff too so I went to the one with a slightly better selection and picked up a few goodies!

Some baby bok choy (!!!), a big bag of mesclun greens, a big ol' carton of strawberries, some sugar snap peas and some new dill pickles from the pickle vendor!

I had a really lovely morning. The best part was that I was home by 10! I was able to load up my dehydrator for the first time and then relax for the rest of the day. More on the dehydrator later ;)

For breakfast I had my non-smoothie breakfast for the week :) Banana with raw pecan butter, raisins and cinnamon with some farmer's market strawberries! Yum!

For lunch I had these gorgeous spring rolls I picked up from the Wild By Nature that is by the Farmers Market. I figured I deserved to eat a meal I didn't have to prepare ;) So good! This had rice paper, lettuce, cucumber, carrots and avocado. There was a Thai Chili Sauce but I didn't eat it because it contained wheat. I don't really like sauces on my spring rolls or sushi anyway though...except peanut sauce. Yum. I ate 2 of the 3 pieces and figured the other would be great as a quick snack!

Dinner is an uninspired plate of carrots, stuffed grape leaves, hummus and Farmers Market pickles. Good but nothing interesting. I think a headache and fatigue won this battle.

I didn't eat too much during the day because my appetite was a bit low and I was feeling a bit headachey so I knew dessert would be in order tonight. It is pretty hot here so I wanted something cold so what better way to end a day than with some icy, sweet frozen fruit! I have a few frozen grapes mixed with some frozen pineapple (anti-inflammatory food!). It'll be the perfect sweet dessert. It's a bit icy but I'm ok with that ;) That's on tap for a bit later!

I became incredibly aware that my nails needed to be done immediately so in honor of the last week of my cleanse I decided to "go green." ;) I have since cleaned them up around the edges.

Check out this double rainbow I saw outside my window after a brief sun shower! You can only see the second one in the upper right corner of the photo but it was so pretty!

I took my dehydrator out for a test drive but it's still going after almost 8 hours! I'll have to show you what I made tomorrow!

Yikes, this is a long post :) Hope you all had a great weekend! I'm not going to lie, I could totally go for another day off :X Have a great evening!

    1. Thanks Sara! I love getting there early so I can take my time and not deal with the crazies! ;) The veggies did look great and I got exactly what I wanted!

Haha the dehydrator creation was a fail. I'll write about it tomorrow :)

  2. Aw, so cool you made it out to the Farmers market! It's too bad it's such a trek but I always think it's worth it. I bet those strawberries are awsome.
Both the spring rolls and the dinner look great. It's been a while since I've had those rolls. I couldn't figure out what was in the baggie at first! It kinda looks like grapes and frozen corn, ha! That might be a little less tasty...
Beautiful rainbow shot. I was out just post-rain shower but didn't see one. Lucky you :)

    1. I know I'm so glad I decided to move my ass this morning and go! The ride is long but it is pretty and relaxing. And the pay off was good! The strawberries were delicious!

I hadn't had rolls like this in forever which is why I decided to splurge! Haha yeah I don't think frozen corn would have worked well with grapes.

Thanks! I actually just looked out the window to see if it was still raining and I saw the rainbow! So pretty.

  3. Looks like you got some gorgeous produce at the farmer's market! Those strawberries look so ripe and juicy :)

Love the nail polish! I'm not allowed to have painted nails at work and oh how I miss it! I used to pain my nails according to my mood and would change them every couple days!

Can't wait to see what you did with the dehydrator. Hope your back and shoulders are better by tomorrow!

Oh, and frozen grapes are just awesome aren't they?

    1. The produce looks so good! I can't wait to make a salad with those greens and to try the bok choy!

Oh no! No painted nails at work? That stinks! I tend to paint my nails according to my mood too :)

Haha the dehydrator was a fail. Have to experiment a little more! LOVE frozen grapes!

  4. Love this post! So many great things going on - first off, what a workout carrying all of that photography equipment. I bet you are looking forward to having someone carrying your bag instead! :)

PICKLE VENDOR?! I am so jealous! That's one thing we've never had in my years perusing markets. Perhaps there is not much demand for pickles, outside of my own taste buds?! Beautiful greens, peas and berries! So glad you were able to go.

Spring rolls with peanut sauce are a huge favorite of mine - I had something similar for dinner today! It's like you were inside my head, as I was just wondering if I could eat frozen pineapple like I eat frozen grapes. Thank you for answering my question - without even knowing it!

Lovely photo of the rainbows! Looking forward to your dehydrator results!

    1. Thanks Ingrid! Yeah carrying the bags is always a bit of a workout, yesterday especially. Haha I'm not so sure photography is going to be a lifetime career but having an assistant in some capacity would definitely be nice ;)

I know! I couldn't resist the pickles! They were actually really good too! I overheard the vendor say they were working on different kinds of pickled veggies so I'm curious to see what the come up with! I'm glad I was able to go too :)

Haha see I think we are on the same wavelength! I like frozen pineapple, especially when it's not freezer burned :X

Thanks! Dehydrator test 1 was a fail but I'm already thinking about how I can make up for it ;)

    1. Hi Jessy! Well, this dehydrator experiment turned out to be an epic fail but I'll make up for it! Rainbows are so pretty, I'm so glad I caught it!

Thanks! It is such a delicious and easy meal, it is my number one go to meal when I'm in a rush or not interested in cooking. I'm glad that you enjoy it too!

      Thanks for stopping in! :)

  7. Double rainbow! Awesome. :) I love going to farmers markets too. Everything seems fresher and yummier. The farmers around here like to give out free samples too. I'm glad your cleanse is going so well.

I'm intrigued about what you're making with your dehydrator. I've been eating frozen grapes this week, but I'll have to try frozen pineapple.

  8. Nice score with the stuffed grape leaves! It sounds like a fun time, especially considering that you were working.

The farmer's market there had a much better variety than ours did! We had our choice of scallions and a few greens, but that was about it.

LOVE the double rainbow. I've only seen them twice and got so excited both times. One was right over Lake Michigan, which made it extra exciting.

I also love the green nail polish. So cute!

    1. I know I was so happy about the stuffed grape leaves! Gave dinner some bulk :) They were definitely a good group!

I find that the market definitely depends on the time of the season. Ours usually starts off slow too.

I bet double rainbows over Lake Michigan is amazing! Rainbows are pretty cool. I think the coolest thing I've ever seen was meteor shower in college. It was so amazing!

      Thanks!!
