Monday Madness!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a really lovely Father's Day! We had a great day yesterday :) We went to my brother's house and had a family BBQ (well they BBQ'd and I had a big ol' salad) and had a really fun time. Delilah is a little chatter box. She LOVES dogs and freaks out and screams "puppy!" every time she sees one! She loves animals in general :) The two of us spent some quality time together too which was so nice. Definitely a great day!

Today I started a new workout routine as well! I woke up at 6:30 am and got ready for my first 2 a day workout! My morning workout was 2 miles of intervals on the treadmill. Then I went back to the gym in the evening for my second workout: Intervals on the arc trainer and a 45 minute training session. I'll be doing 2 a days on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and one workout on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.  My running will be done on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and I will be doing non-impact cardio on Saturdays and Sundays. I don't like doing impact workouts on days that I have weddings. It sounds like a solid plan and I'll be paying attention to my how my body reacts over the next week or two and adjust accordingly. Nutrition is going to play a major factor in this!

Before I get to today's food I have a mini grocery haul to share with you! A new Fairway opened up close to my house and I've been told I HAVE to go there because it is amazing so I headed over there. I was so overwhelmed! They had so much stuff, a huge gluten free section, tons of organic food and lots of health and wellness items. It was crazy! I was going to do my grocery shopping there this week but the produce was even more expensive than Whole Foods! I picked up a few things but I'll get my produce at Whole Foods later this week. Check out the mini haul!

Kale, brown rice cakes (banana walnut butter anyone?!), 3 avocados (on sale 3/$5), 2 packages of sesame seaweed snacks and some medjool dates.

More groceries later in the week!

Now on to today's food!

Post workout recovery smoothie. Banana, blueberries, pineapple, almond milk and Vega vanilla powder. So good!

Late morning snack was a Gluten Free Carrot Spice Muffin. These are really amazing. If you want a healthy muffin to snack on or enjoy for breakfast I really recommend trying these.

Lunch was a hummus plate with tons of veggies and some stuffed grape leaves. I was so hungry I forgot to take a photo!

Vita Coco coconut water after my workout.

I haven't eaten dinner yet. I'm still cooling off after my workout. Even after I shower I'm still warm. It takes me a while to get my body temperature down sometimes. Does that happen to anyone else? I have a feeling I'll be making a big salad for dinner then maybe I'll have a rice cake with some walnut butter.

Now that I'm doing workouts twice a day a few days during the week I really need to be on point with my nutrition so I'll have the energy to keep up my exercise routine while working the 6-7 days a week that I'm working now! I have two weddings this weekend so I'll be working twelve hour days Saturday and Sunday. If anyone has any tips on how to fuel my body correctly after that much activity I'd greatly appreciate it!

Oh and as a little teaser, I did another dehydrator test and it came out so good! I'll post it on Wednesday or Thursday most likely :)

Have a great evening! I'll photograph more of my meals tomorrow I promise! Just adjusting to the new schedule :)

  1. Haha, isn't discovering new grocery stores so fun?? There's a Fairway kinda near me and I've been wanting to check it out for a long time. Nice deal on the avocados at least.
Good luck with the workouts, they sound really intense. I remember whenever I ran after work I couldn't eat for a long time because I was so warm, which kind of sucked because I ended up eating dinner pretty late. But a salad sounds like a good follow-up!

    1. I love checking out new stores! I had been to another Fairway before but it's further away. That one had a whole Vegan Bar which was awesome and I wish they had one at this location but they didn't. Oh well. They did have some great stuff though!

Thanks! It is intense and I'm sure I'll be over it quick but I'll just have to push myself to keep it up. I tend to eat too late on days where I get really overheated during a workout which is bad but oh well :)

  2. You are a machine! I can't imagine working out and working as much as you do! Not a single day off and 3 double workout days- you are superwoman!

Hope my post helped this morning with pre-workout ideas. I think Vega will serve you pretty well too- lot's of goodness in there including things like maca, greens and chia. Just make sure you are eating enough- maybe add in a couple extra snacks?

    That's my 2-cents anyway! Good luck :)

P.S. Awesome grocery store haul! Can't wait to see your dehydrator recipe!

    1. Haha thanks Gabby! I don't know if I'd say I'm superwoman but I appreciate the kind words :) I'm sure I'll have a breakdown at some point... wedding season is just beginning! ;)

It definitely was a huge help! That's the main reason I like Vega, it has so much nutrition packed into one serving! I was thinking I'd have to add some snacks in because eating raw is lowish in calories anyway and adding an extra workout will just drain me of energy even more.

Thanks for the suggestions! You were the inspiration for the dehydrator recipe!

  3. How have you liked the New Balance shoes so far? It sounds like your running is progressing nicely, so I'm hoping that they're working for you!

That's awesome that you can fit in a workout in the mornings. I have to be at work by 6, so that's pretty hard for me to do.

It sounds like Fairway is a pretty great place to shop! I wish we had a little more variety for stores around here. Never heard of Fairway before!

    1. The New Balance shoes are really light and comfy but I've had some problems with it cutting up the back of my ankles. I'm going to have to figure out how to prevent that because it gets pretty painful.

The earliest I'm at work is 9 so if I get to the gym by 7 I have just enough time to get in a run then come home and shower and get my meals together. Being to work at 6 sucks!

Fairway is really nice but very pricey. It's good for specialty items mostly :) It's cool to explore though!

  4. So much to say! First, regarding Saturday's post - I loved the look of those kale chips, I am going to have to try making that recipe (but in the oven, obviously!). Your muffins are to die for, and I'm so glad to see them here, too!

Delilah sounds like so much fun, I'm sure Remy would love to lick her face! Ha ha!

Your two a day schedule is rockin', it sounds like a fantastic workout! You are going to be super in shape for the race, I am totally inspired by you. :)

Fairway looks like a neat store. I know you're eating more raw these days, but it's nice to know a store has a lot of gluten-free options when you mix it up.

It takes me a long time to cool down, too. My face is usually bright pink for a while, really embarrassing - which also means when I blush, it shows up quickly. Ugh! :)

    1. Thank you! The kale chips are great, definitely try them! Thank you! I think you'd like them!

Delilah is such a trip. She has so much personality and so much energy! She'd LOVE Remy!

Thanks! It is a great workout but it is exhausting! I have to adapt to this new routine and make sure my nutrition is on point so I can keep it up! Aww thank you, I hope I'm in shape and ready for it in time! I'm inspired by you too!

Fairway is definitely great for specialty items. I found gluten free angel hair there which is exciting because I love angel hair :) I'm not a big pasta eater as you've seen but angel hair for some reason is the one I like the most! I didn't get it though because I'm excited to try my lasagna noodles!

My face turns beet red and breaks out every time I work out. Sorry if it's TMI but I sweat like crazy so I just look like a hot mess after a workout, ha! My face literally is like fire engine red, it's ridiculous!

  5. Your Muffin recipe is like those Russian Nesting Dolls. Just keeps linking back and back.

Hope we get to see Delilah's latest hair and clothes style soon.
