Eating Clean on the Weekend

Good evening everyone and Happy Saturday! I went in to the studio for a few hours this morning to get some editing done and then ran a few errands and spend a good part of the afternoon relaxing. It feels so good :) I finally got my car back which is great and I've been watching UFC Unleashed for the past few hours. This is shaping up to be a pretty great day!

Today's grub has been pretty great too. Check it out!

Breakfast is my "breakfast banana split."I just split open a banana and added 1 tbsp of almond butter, some raisins and some cinnamon. It was so delicious.

I ate lunch between work and running errands so I didn't grab a picture of it but I just ate a bowl of veggie soup. Warmed me right up!

For dinner I had some brown rice with steamed tofu, broccoli and eggplant. I just drizzled about 1 tbsp of a garlic sauce over the top for a little flavor but avoided the heaviness that comes from drowning it in sauce. Such a simple but satisfying meal.

For some reason I was having a hungry day so I ended up snacking quite a bit. All of my snacks were nutritious, clean foods so I don't feel guilty about it. I ate a lot of frozen grapes, a few stuffed grape leaves, and a key lime pie larabar. Mmm. My belly is satisfied. I'll probably have some spearmint tea a little later on.

Enjoy your Saturday night everyone!

  1. I love the look of that banana split! I think I'm going to eat that right now. I don't feel like eating a big dinner. I just want that banana split!

Sounds like you had a cool day. I'm glad you have your car back :)

  2. You had a much healthier day than I did. It all looks great! Is that a Vegan Dish bowl? I think I remember you posting it before.... We have matching mug & bowl sets from there that we got for our anniversary a few years ago. Love them!

  3. I enjoy a good mint tea, as well! Sounds like a great day, I will have to try a little "banana split" some time! I can't remember the last time I just ate a banana; all of mine end up in the freezer for smoothies.

P.S. Got a massage today. . .it was one of those "relaxing yet painful" experiences as I had a lot of knots! I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow.

  5. Wow, looks like the "banana split" is a hit!

Isobelle - Hope you like it! It's so simple and not really newsworthy but it is really easy and delicious and with a cute name you can't go wrong! And thanks, i'm glad to have my car back too!

Molly - Thanks! Yup that is my prized Vegan Dish bowl/mug! I've had it for a year and it makes frequent appearances :) I'd love to get another one to be able to switch it up but they are a bit pricey. Take some photos of your bowls, I'd love to see them!

Ingrid - I LOVE mint tea, it is definitely my fav! Bananas are soooo good, I eat one most days of the week, unfrozen ;) I usually only freeze them if they are overripe. Oooh let me know how you feel tomorrow, that's great that you went for it! I'm not gonna lie, my back and shoulder are doing all kinds of crazy things, something is always popping or cracking literally every time I move!

Sara - Aww let me know how everyone likes it!! Take some pics of those cuties while they munch!

  6. Steamed eggplant dish looks great. Did you make it? Or how did you get the sauce without them cooking it in for you?

  7. Love that banana split idea! Very clever and looks yummy. The brown rice bowl looks the business too...I've never steamed eggplant; must try it sometime.

  8. You sure like to slice Bananas in long pieces.

Aren't you gonna tell us what was wrong with your car? Just the battery?

  9. FF - The steamed dish was takeout and all steamed dishes come with sauce on the side. Makes life a lot easier and a lot healthier.

Rose - Thanks! I never steam eggplant on my own but the restaurant always seems to do it perfectly.

Shen - Oops sorry! There was a weird connection to one of the terminals in the battery so it wouldn't start or function at all. The battery was brand new from the accident so I guess the connection just got messed up.

  10. Haha, my car is old, 1998! My bro is good friends with a mechanic so he takes care of a lot for me. Very lucky!

  11. 1998?! Hope the hipness factor is worth the aggravation.

  12. Haha, totally not a hip car! It is worth the aggravation though, it has been really good to me.
