Quick Poll :)

Hey everyone :) I'm sorry I haven't been posting as frequently recently. I've been really busy and will continue to be through next week. I'm going to be house sitting for my brother and since my laptop is now essentially a desktop until I get a new power cord (long story) I can't bring it with me. I'll try and post once or twice for updates but I won't be around much until the new year. That much I can tell you. I'll do my best to keep up with your posts though!

I don't have food to show you today but I'd love to hear your opinions about something very random. I've been growing my hair for a long time but have recently been debating cutting a lot of it off.

This is an extremely unflattering picture of myself with horrible florescent lights and no make up but you can see how long my hair is. I love the length but I'm tired of it.

So what do you think? New year new look? Or rock it long? Love to hear what you think!

I doubt I'll be back before tomorrow to post so I just want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! I hope that whatever you do to celebrate brings you lots of joy :)

  1. Well, for the record, I don't think it's an unflattering picture at all. I usually have long hair, and the times I've cut it, I've either loved it or hated it. I'm so busy, I like mine long because it's easier for me to deal with. I'm definitely no hair stylist. If you have a hairdresser you trust, ask him/her for advice. Maybe if you're thinking "change," that really means your instincts are to go short!

  2. Personally I'm a big fan of short hair. I'd say go for it! It can be totally exhilarating. I think the photo is nice too!

  3. Agree with Jenny, it's a very good self portrait.

I'm a fan of long hair. After years of destroying my own hair with bleach, I'm jealous of those with long thick hair.

(Don't listen to FF, next she'll have you buy that freakin' pointy hat she's always wearing).

  4. I've been thinking about cutting mine short too!
My hair is all the way down my back and I've been growing it out from a bob I had a couple years ago, but I kinda want it short again. I can never make up my mind though!

I think you're so lovely! And I think you're hair is equally as lovely at the length it is now. But I agree with Maud - taking the plunge and trying something new is really exhilarating. It'll be like a breath of fresh air. We all need a little spice, sometimes :)
(And it'll grow back if you don't like it).

  5. I love long hair, although I went shorter for this first time in a while in November 2010 and I liked it, but I have not even trimmed my hair since then. Lately I'm putting it up all the time so I think it may be time to go shorter again. That's kind of how I decided to go shorter in the first place - I was never wearing it down. Your hair looks very pretty and thick so I think as long as you're not always putting it in ponytail, you could rock it.

Merry Christmas and happy Chanukah to you too!

  6. Both you and your hair are gorgeous! It's difficult to say without knowing you in person and such, but if you feel like going for a fun cut, I agree with Jenny. Go to some awesome hair stylist and discuss a new look that will be fab on you. Why not? It will grow out again if you want it.

  7. You don't need makeup! I like the length but I'd get some layers cut into it or even a side fringe? to give it more shape. It'll give you the change you want but not be too drastic- if you like it you can always go shorter next cut!
Talk to the hairdresser about options- but go with what feels right, you have to live with it.
Can't wait for the after photo! Happy Christmas! xxx

  8. I agree with everyone else- that photo isn't unflattering! You like very nice all natural. :)

I think you have the face/head shape for short hair and that it would look adorable on you. I've always felt so great when I cut mine, but then after a while I miss my long hair. Either way, you can always grow it back.

    Happy holidays!

  9. Aww thank you all very much, you are all very sweet. Trust me, florescent lights manage to pick up every flaw and magnify it :) For clarification, when I say short I mean shoulder length or just past the shoulder. I can't do much shorter because I have very thick hair so when it's super short it just turns into a fro. Not cute. AND I still need to put it into a ponytail for working out :)

Jenny - Thank you :) I have a wonderful hair stylist I usually just give her a basic idea and let her do what she wants. She is very funky and knows what will look good and I totally trust her.

FF - Thanks! Like I said, I can't go too short because it just turns into fro central. I'm a bit of a hair spazz, I can't seem to make it look cute when it is too short!

Shen - Thanks :) I'm leaning toward keeping the length for a little bit then cutting it for the spring. I always cut it as soon as it gets to the length I like, never get to enjoy it!

Isobelle - Thank you, you are very sweet :) I feel like hair cuts are what women do to start over :) I think I am going to take the plunge, but maybe not just yet. I'm with you, so indecisive!

Miss Rachel - Thank you :) I've done the same thing as you, cut it all off then I don't touch it until it grows back. I do have to pull it back for the gym so that is where some of the hesitation comes from.

Rose - Thank you so much that is really nice of you to say :) I think you and Jenny are right, maybe she'll come up with something that I have never even though of!

Claire - Thanks, I've been told I should wear more make up before so that was nice to hear :) I'm so lazy about makeup which is bad but I'm not a very girly girl so it has never been a main concern of mine. I am so with you and I love the idea of just going for more shape for now then cutting it later. I think I'm actually leaning toward this for the moment.

Molly - Thank you :) I am the same exact way, I always miss my long hair when I get it cut. It totally shouldn't be this big of a decision but for some reason I just can't decide!

Hope you all have a very happy holiday!

  10. I might not be the best person to ask. I'm in the process of growing my hair out after having it in a short bob for nearly 4 years. I missed being able to wear ponytails and braids. But I do have to say that having short hair was really fun and quick to style.

Since you're thinking about cutting it to shoulder length, I don't think it will be as big of a shock. You'll still be able to pull it back. I think a new years haircut is a great idea. It's visual reminder of having a fresh start. You're beautiful--do what makes you happy!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and have a very happy new year!

  11. I agree that it won't be a shock and I love the idea of a new fun hairstyle, it's just so hard to take the plunge! I'll do it for sure, but maybe I'll just wait a few months! I'm definitely going to cut it, we'll just see how short I guess :) Thank you so much and happy holidays to you too!

  12. I think Claire said it best - you can change the style you have now slightly into something new, then if you want to change it more, you can. Do it in stages. I've had mine both short and long, and I prefer long on me. But, other women can look so cute in short hair.
