Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse: Day 2

Hey everyone! I'm just going to get right to it today. I woke up feeling all kinds of terrible. I had a horrible migraine, felt incredibly nauseous and was exhausted. It was exactly what I was afraid of.

Logically I know I'm going through caffeine withdrawal but I'm still doubting myself and this cleanse. I feel really gross. I had a really hard time during my training session yesterday because my energy was so low. I am hoping to find a balance soon...

Today was a really light food day because I had a hard time keeping food down.

Breakfast was another green smoothie. Spinach, cucumber and banana with stevia and cinnamon. It was ok. I'm not sold on green smoothies for breakfast though.

I wasn't hungry at all for lunch so I tried to make a compact, calorie dense meal so I mashed a half of an avocado on a slice of millet toast.

I brought a pear to work for snack.

Some raw veggies with hummus for dinner. This was my favorite meal of the day.

I definitely did not eat enough today because I felt so sick. Thankfully the green tea helped or else I would have been miserable at work.

I think the hardest part of this for me is the green smoothie for breakfast. It's not that they taste terrible or anything, I just really don't like drinking my breakfast...unless it is the summer. And I also don't like the idea of having to drink them every day. I'd be ok a few days a week but every day is a lot for me. I'm only two days in and I'm over the. Oy.

I hope you all had a good day. I'm hoping that I'll feel better in the morning.

  1. Big internet hug, Sarah! You are so amazing to be doing this, and I believe you can do it!! Gosh, what can I say about smoothies, other than you might be on to something: hot weather begets liquid meals. Keep experimenting to see if there is a recipe you really like.

I am so hoping that you wake up feeling better in the morning!! :)

  2. Thank you Ingrid, you are very sweet. I feel better now than I did this morning. I never could have imagined how intense the withdrawal would be. I have to figure out what I'm going to do about these smoothies. They are such a process...my blender sucks so I have to process everything in the food processor to break it down then finish it in the blender. It takes forever lol.

  3. Keep with it, Sarah! You'll get there I promise.
From what I have seen in your other cleanses, you're really good at sticking to what you say you're going to do, so I know you'll get through it easy. But I have to admit, the first few days (the first week even) is very difficult.

You can do ittt (waterboy!) - that's a movie reference. You may not know it. But anyway. I believe in you :)!

  4. That sucks but I think things will get better. If they don't, no one is really holding you accountable. You're supposed to feel GOOD on this cleanse, not make yrself miserable.
It sounds counterintuitive but sometimes I force myself to eat even if I feel a little sick, and sometimes it helps (unless you're actually vomiting.)
    Anyway, best wishes!

  5. you can do it, sarah! i know how awful caffeine withdrawl is and how icky it makes you feel. push through it and keep your goal in sight. you'll be so glad you did!

if it seems to be more than the withdrawl, though, noone will blame you for adjusting things a bit. after all, change is pretty much a constant and we need to flow with it.

    either way, you rock!

  6. Isobelle - Thank you! You are right, I am not the kinda girl that is going to quit. Like I stated in my post today, I'm going to stick to the plan as written and if I don't feel better next week I'll make slight adjustments. And I totally got the reference :)

FF - I know it'll get better, I just have to get through the bad to get to the good. I have been forcing myself to eat with low appetite and I know I'm definitely not eating enough but at least it is something.

Molly - Thank you! It is super yucky but I'm definitely going to stick out the caffeine withdrawal. You rock too being all supportive even with your broken arm! Thanks girl, feel better soon!

  7. Considering that whole fruits and veggies are so easy to digest to begin with, I can't see why you couldn't just eat your breakfasts like that instead of blended? I'm pretty sure Gena (choosing raw) dislikes green smoothies as well, maybe you could see what her breakfasts are like? Caffeine withdrawl sucks, but it's also temporary - good luck sticking with it! I drink green tea sometimes but I don't find that I NEED it the way I used to need coffee.

    1. That sounds like great advice Allysia, thank you so much I'll have to check out her site and see what she does. I felt much better today in terms of the withdrawal so I'm glad I stuck it out. I feel the same way about the green tea. It helped take the edge off yesterday but I definitely don't need it now.

  8. Great to hear your experience, Sarah. I'm on Day 2, sitting at work with a raging headache, feeling WAY too nauseous to eat my Buddha bowl. I hope to hell it passes soon.

  9. Once I broke my addiction to caffeine I never went back. I have seen you try to break it several times. Wish you would just stick with decaf.

    1. My goal is to kick the addiction. I have had no coffee in 4 days and I don't intend to start drinking it again after this cleanse. The green tea has minimal caffeine and is approved in CSD for this cleanse...and I didn't have any of that today either :) I think I'm getting over the hump and am well on my way to being caffeine free! I don't think I'd even go back to drinking decaf regularly because it is the most acidic part of my diet. I can't say I won't have a decaf soy latte everyone once in a while though :) That's down the road though.
