Happy Thursday :)

Hey everyone! Sorry I missed yesterday, just didn't have anything exciting and it was my long day so I decided not to stress about posting. I do have some yummy things to show you today so hopefully that'll make up for it ;)

Over the past few days we started doing 15 minutes of yoga at work before lunch. It is pretty much the best decision that we've made. It feels great and it really lifts my mood exponentially. One of the benefits of working in a creative field, instead of coffee or cigarette breaks we have yoga breaks!

Had a training session after work today and I am continuing to feel really great! I did box jumps (pretty low ones but jumps nonetheless) which freak me out but I just sucked it up and did it. Lots of work on the heavy bag and ground and pound bag too. It's funny how quickly my 45 minute sessions go now that I do doubles on Mondays!

Anyway, here's what I've eaten:

Breakfast was another amazing and beautiful Raw Blueberry Muffin Smoothie.

Lunch was some hummus, carrots, tomato, and stuffed grape leaves. Such an easy and delicious meal!

After my workout I had a protein shake. Right now I'm just waiting to see if I'm going to my friend's house to help her with something. If I am I'll eat dinner with her. If I'm not I'm thinking I may make a Chipotle run because I'm starving and craving rice and beans and veggies :)

I'm very excited that tomorrow is Friday! I took off on Saturday because I have a baby shower to go to so I'll definitely enjoy having a full weekend off.

I'm also really excited because I discovered a raw food restaurant here on Long Island! I'm so stoked!  It's called Live Island Cafe and if you click the link you can check out the menu. It looks awesome and really affordable! The only thing that bums me out is that they are closed Sundays which is my best day to go but I'll make sure I get out there soon :)

Hope you all have a great night!

  1. That's awesome that you take yoga breaks at work! What a great atmosphere you must work in.

A Chipotle run sounds good to me. You can't go wrong with rice, beans and veggies!

That's exciting that you have a full weekend off and even more exciting about the raw restaurant! Hopefully you can get there very soon. :)

    1. I have to agree, the yoga breaks are pretty phenomenal. Hopefully it lasts!

Chipotle definitely happened. I have photographic evidence to show tomorrow ;)

I really can't wait for this weekend. It is weird because I feel great and I have energy to go about my business but at the same time I'm really sleepy. It is a strange feeling but I can't wait to sleep in a bit. I hope I get to the restaurant soon too!

  2. Ooh box jumps! I did those at almost every session last summer, with my trainer! I always had to use my arms to propel me, and I was always worried I'd trip - so I know your fear. I LOVE the idea of yoga breaks!!! Maybe at my new school we can do something like that.

Will definitely try the raw blueberry shake, it looks amazing. Enjoy the baby shower, and hopefully you'll make it to the restaurant soon. I love weekends!!

    1. I hate box jumps. They were really low. He knows it freaks me out and told me I could step up and jump down and I told him that was dumb I'd just jump LOL. That would be great if you guys could do yoga at the new school!

Let me know how you like the blueberry shake. it is similar to the other one but I think the vanilla protein powder makes a big different. Thanks, I'm sure the shower will be great and I'll do my best to get there soon :)

  3. Your workouts sound intense...if I'm ever in a comprised situation in a dark alley, I hope you're nearby! :D

That's so cool about the yoga at work, sounds like a really positive and supportive work environment.

Of course your eats look so healthy and vibrantly delicious as usual!

Enjoy your full weekend off! I checked out the Live Island menu, and I think I'd have to go for the homemade sauerkraut and the rawsagna. What a cool restaurant, hope you can make it there sometime soon!

    1. I love my workouts. For the most part they are intense. We do technique sometimes which is kind of mellow but it balances the intensity of the other sessions. Hopefully we will never be in a compromising situation but I have a feeling I'd be very underestimated if I were. Lol most people see a girl that's 5'2 and looks like she's 16 and don't think much but then they see me train :)

Thank you so much! The rawsagna has been calling me name and I'd definitely go for a smoothie too. Can't pass up a fairly inexpensive smoothie that I don't have to make!

  4. Oops, I meant compromised!! LOL, but a comprised situation sounds like it could be dodgy too! :P

  5. Yoga before lunch sounds like a great idea. Hearing about your workouts is very inspiring. Also it's nice to know that you're getting used to doing double sessions so much that they make regular ones seem short.

Still love the color of that smoothie.

    1. Aww thanks :) Yeah it is crazy, 45 minutes just flies by now! Still a great workout though.

I do too! Someone should totally put out a smoothie nail polish line. That would be awesome.

  6. I love it that you and your coworkers are doing yoga. That's such a great idea. I meditate in the mornings but I should add some yoga into my day because I sit at my desk for hours and hours.

    1. That is exactly why we do it! We sit at our desks from 8-10 hours a day so the yoga helps get the blood flowing. It is also motivating me to do more yoga on my own :)

  7. I love the idea of yoga before lunch! Do you do it right in your studio? Does anyone else join in? I am so rushed in the mornings I have been really slacking in my stretching and it makes me feel old and rusty.
The food looks awesome but I mostly wanted to say - that restaurant is right in Greg's hometown! His dad actually has a store on main street in Huntington. We've talked about going when we're on the island to visit his folks but it's never happened. I'm not sure if he's been there before but if you end up going, I'd love to hear what you think about the place! maybe i'd be more willing to go out there :)

    1. I'm not going to lie, it is a pretty funny scene when we do our yoga. We lock the door to the studio and put a screen in front of the door. 2 of the 3 of us have yoga mats (but we are getting our boss one as a little thanks for letting us do yoga present lol) and we put a short yoga video on youtube and bust it out. It is very basic but it gets us moving and all 3 of us had some pretty good joint cracking happening :)

That is awesome! I really love going to Huntington, I don't get there often but I enjoy the town so much. What store does his father own?! I'm definitely going to check the restaurant out it just depends on when I can actually get there since the hours aren't so great for my schedule. I'll definitely keep you posted! I'll definitely get out there once the farmer's market opens up again but it is on Sunday when the restaurant is closed. My timing sucks ha!

  8. A yoga break sounds very positive. Almost like working for Google!

Hey look at the hummus touching the grape leaves!

  9. It's funny that you mentioned Google because we saw a Youtube video recently about how working for Zappos is so much fun and like a party every day. I'd rather do yoga than have a party though :)

I eat the grape leaves and the hummus together so they would touch eventually anyway ;)
