Is It Bedtime Yet?

Hey everyone! Well my Saturday off is pretty much in the books and I have to tell you, I'm so exhausted! I'm ready for bed and it is only 8pm. I clearly will be awake for much longer but I'm definitely happy to be relaxing in bed right now.

I started off my day with a training session this morning. It was a great session as usual. The rope made an appearance today along with some rounds on the heavy bag and other fun things. We always rock out abs/core and today was no different. Squats and lunges always find their way in too ;)

After the gym I relaxed for a bit then went to the baby shower which was cute. Now I'm home relaxing and watching The Hangover :) Funny enough the first time I saw this movie was in the theater on a date. I seem to see some pretty inappropriate movies on dates (I Love You, Man got pretty inappropriate for a first date lol). Maybe that's why it never works out? ;) In any case, I am enjoying some Bradley Cooper eye candy tonight.

Let's check out the food from today!

I waited until after my training session for breakfast. I made a quick protein shake with almond milk, banana, protein powder and ice. Simple but good.

After I showered and relaxed for a bit I snacked on my last apple. Good thing I'm going to WFs tomorrow :)

I decided to have a piece of gluten free toast with avocado before the baby shower in case the food wasn't super vegan friendly.

At the shower I had some salad. It was good but I'm glad I ate the avocado toast before.

I got home in the early evening and I wanted something spicy for dinner so I got some Thai food. I rarely eat it and it is definitely a treat. I got the basil eggplant (eggplant, onion, carrots and green beans with basil and "spicy sauce") and added broccoli and tofu. The spicy is in quotes because it was barely spicy and I forgot to ask them to make it extra spicy. It was also a little greasier than usual. I didn't eat this whole serving because it was sitting kind of heavy in my belly. I have a lot left so I'll just have to eat small portions of it at a time.

I'm looking forward to relaxing tomorrow. A quick trip to Whole Foods is on tap for the morning and possibly some cardio then who knows! If I am not lazy and have all my ingredients maybe I'll make my raw dessert. We shall see.

Hope you all had a great Saturday! Cheers!

  1. What a lovely food day. I like the way you composed the Apple and Thai food for your pics. Did you eat at the shower? How did the gift basket go over?

    1. Thanks Shen! The funny thing is I definitely just threw the apple and thai food in a bowl. There are some days where I can't be fussy and today was one of those days. I'm glad it turned out well though! I ate a little salad at the shower but that was it. The basket was well received :)

  2. The basil eggplant looks good, even if it was less than stellar. Couldn't you have added something spicy to it at home?
I agree with Shen; the apple looks very nicely presented. Haha, it actually made me want to go into the kitchen to eat my apple too.

    1. I should have added sriracha but I noticed it wasn't spicy after it was already in the bowl and I was too lazy to deal with fussing over it ha. Go for the apple! An apple a day :)

  3. I'm tired, too! I think it was the business of the week that created my lethargy. :) I always have a small snack before gatherings, unless I'm bringing something!

Great workout! Wish I liked eggplant, as I bet dinner was tasty. Do you think the restaurant used more oil or do you think you've adjusted to a raw diet?

    1. I hope you get to rest up tomorrow! I think it'll be a big rest day for lots of people. I'm definitely glad I ate the snack.

The dinner was good, I don't know if it was actually greasy or just greasy because I don't eat like that anymore. I think it was a little of both. My tastes have definitely changed and I crave more fresh foods. And even if I crave something cooked or a little more processed I find I don't enjoy it once I eat it, so that is a great thing in my mind.

  4. Great splurge on the Thai! Too bad it was on the oily side. The best I've ever had was very non-oily, which is how it should be, IMO. They usually don't make it nearly spicy enough for me, either, even when I ask for it extra spicy.

Sounds like you enjoyed your day! :)

    1. I agree, it should definitely not be greasy. I always ask for extra spicy and it has only gotten me in trouble once :) I think they made it super spicy out of spite ;) My lips were so swollen and red that it looked like I had bright red lipstick on and I got a spice high. It was kind of funny.

      I did, thanks!

    2. It's only gotten me in trouble once, too! Weird! It was so spicy that I couldn't even taste anything else and like you, I think they did it out of spite. One of the Thai restaurants here has the attitude that white people can't handle their spice. Hmph!

    3. I've actually heard that there is "thai spicy" and "white spicy." I get it but it was just ridiculous the amount of heat that was in there that one time.

  5. Everything looks so pretty! Good call on the avocado toast before the shower. Spicy eggplant and tofu is one of my favorite things to order at the Thai place we go to...I always have to pile on loads of chili sauce for the heat too. Restaurant food often sits heavy with me too...good idea to eat it in small portions; I would have just eaten it all--no will power. :)

    1. Thanks Rose! The avocado toast was a perfect pre-shower snack. I love ordering eggplant at Thai restaurants because it is normally cooked so perfectly...this was just greasy though. I don't think my tummy would have allowed me to eat a bigger portion!

  6. What kind of protein powder do you use? Vega One is on sale at Whole Foods! Still pricey, but I mix half a scoop with half a scoop of Raw Protein - which cuts on the taste and saves a little bit of money :) I also grind up some hemp hearts and throw them in. Mmm, chalky protein drink.

Anyhow, your Thai food made me hungry for Thai. But I've been eating out so much lately.. I should probably just make my own. And the rest of your eats look delicious, too!

    1. For a post-workout (heavy workout) shake I'll use Vega Performance Protein: http://vegasport.com/recover/performance-protein

In my morning smoothies I'll use the Vega Shake n Go Smoothie powders. They have so much good stuff in there and I found them on sale so I got a choc a lot and vanilla almondilla one. I like the flavor it adds :) I just got hemp hearts today, I'm going to add them to my salads!

Thanks! The Thai food was a last minute decision and I probably won't get it again for a while since it sits so heavy but I have enough for three portions out of this one :)

  7. Your avocado toast always makes me want to bake up some bread so I can enjoy that too! Well tomorrow is Sunday, which is the ideal bread-making day. Okay. It's gonna happen. :)

    1. That's awesome! I'm jealous in advance of your home made bread! I haven't made home made gluten free bread yet. I feel like I should try it out because it has to be cheaper than spending $6 per loaf on the stuff I get from the store. And it'll surely be more delicious! See, now you've inspired me!
