Spinning Back Kicks and Fruit

Hey everyone! This is going to be a quick post because I don't have much interesting food for you :) I'm spending the morning relaxing because I deserve to :)

Ingrid expressed some curiosity of what a spinning back kick is yesterday so I figured I'd find a good video that shows what it is. I'm not super graceful with mine but it is more fluid and definitely more accurate and powerful now :)

This is a tutorial on how to do a spinning back kick. If you are patient through the first minute or so until he gets to the wide screen you can really see it. Like I said, it isn't difficult but it looks fun :) You get really dizzy practicing it too! Ha!

The only productive thing I've done today is make this big ol' yummy fruit salad to bring to work to share with my boss and co-worked. It's as good as it can get for a winter fruit salad lol. There are 2 honeycrisp apples, an orange, some grapes and strawberries. Looks pretty good for a thrown together fruit salad, no?

Food is the usual so I didn't photograph it. I'll post pics tomorrow, I promise. Gray lazy morning I suppose. Love lounging on a Tuesday morning.

Have a great day!

    1. It is definitely a badass move if you can pull it off! I like the spinning backfist too, and I've got that one under control :) The fruit salad was definitely badass!

  2. I should really take martial arts. It would probably help my coordination, which is very lacking. I fell again in the house the other day..... :o heh

Beautiful fruit salad! I'm so excited that the weather is warming up because the food is so much more vibrant.

I hope you had a very relaxing morning!

    1. Oh no, I hope you are ok and the fall wasn't bad! There are many benefits to taking some sort of martial arts. I actually believe that every child should take up one or more of the martial arts. You learn a lot more than technique (such as respect and discipline) and it keeps you active. You definitely would need to wait until you are fully recovered but you'd probably like it!

Thanks! The weather is so lovely and definitely makes eating raw food easy! I can't wait for berries and cherries to be in season. And watermelon. Mmm.

      Thanks!

  3. Wow! What a cool move! His leg is so straight during the kick. I bet it's a great way to get out any aggression, too! Thanks for posting this! :)

I think grapes and strawberries are my favorite items in a fruit salad! Looks delicious! Would this be for a post-yoga break snack?

    1. Haha no problem! Ask and you shall receive ;) Training in general is a great stress/aggression release! He does it waaaay better than me but one day mine will look that awesome :) My spinning back fist is pretty sweet though!

The fruit salad was supposed to be a snack but we were all so full from the salads we crammed in our faces that we didn't get to it! I'm glad I tossed the apples in lemon juice hopefully it will stop the browning. We'll get to it tomorrow :)

  4. That's so cool! I'd love to see a video of you doing some ass-kickin' moves. I don't look nearly as coordinated or badass during my personal training sessions.

That fruit salad looks so yummy. I could eat a whole bucket of strawberries in one sitting.

    1. Haha maybe one day when I'm not video camera shy :) Maybe when I come to California (in a year and a half lol) we can do some fight training together! That would be so fun!

I love berries. And oranges. And apples. And all kinds of fruit. Nature's candy!

  5. That is a gorgeous fruit salad! I haven't made one in many years, but when I did, I always liked to add Banana.

    1. I wanted to put banana in but I thought it would turn brown too fast. I'm glad I didn't because we didn't eat it until the next day!

  6. The spinning back kick looks very graceful but powerful. I took a self defense class from a martial arts instructor last spring and the video kind of reminds me of some of the things I learned, although they weren't nearly that advanced.

    1. I bet you could totally bust out the spinning back kick. I personally think everyone should take a few self defense or martial arts classes. It's fun and you learn a lot of valuable info :)
