Crazy Sexy Diet Cleanse Take 2: Day 5

Hey everyone! I'm sorry this post has to be a bit quick but I have to get out a bit early today. I am running low on groceries as usual by Wednesday so I'm going to grab a big ol' chopped salad for dinner (and it'll probably end up being lunch tomorrow too, they are seriously that huge!). Today is my long day at work and my boss is taking head shots of me and my coworker for a promotion we are doing which is anxiety inducing for me, ha! I'm SO uncomfortable in front of a professional camera so I hope he gets what he needs!

Anyway, more of the same. Feeling a little better every day except my shoulder is still feeling pretty bad. I'm still not taking the anti inflammatory meds because of the cleanse and I'm just so tired of guessing what's wrong. I just wish I knew the answer. I feel like they should have an MRI done on my shoulder to make sure it isn't just an actual injury but I'm not a Dr. I'm going to call my Dr. on Friday and schedule another appointment to see if she has any other ideas.

Anyway, here's the yummy food for today (minus my salad for dinner)!

I decided that I wanted to start to move toward following Kris Carr's green smoothies a bit more than I have been. I find the veggie based smoothies a little tough for me since I'm just used to sweeter, fruit based smoothies so I'm going to slowly work toward adding veggies and cutting fruit. Today I used a frozen banana, cut down to 1/2 cup frozen blueberries and added a big chunk of cucumber instead of the other half cup of blueberries I normally add. It also has almond milk, Vega and spinach. Baby steps my friends.

Check out this yummy lunch plate! Hummus, stuffed grape leaves, celery, grape tomatoes, carrots and some home made gluten free tortilla chips.

Afternoon snack will be a Chocolate Brownie Pure Bar.

I'm planning on getting greens, carrots, cucumber, sun dried tomatoes, chickpeas and broccoli in my salad. Yum! I'll go grocery shopping tomorrow after the gym which means I'll have to get a grocery list together tonight after I catch up on your blogs :)

Have a great day everyone!

    1. Aww thanks :) I'm always so uncomfortable in front of the camera! The Chocolate brownie bar was so good! The apple cinnamon is actually a fav of mine, it has so much flavor!

      Thanks, it actually did!

  2. Oh cool! I just realized that you're following the CSD! Good luck with it lady. That's hard. But you eat much healthier than me on a regular basis anyway. :-)

    1. Thanks! I had to stop the first time because I got bronchitis in the middle of it and I figured now was a good time to try again! So far so good, I'm feeling better every day! :)

  3. I have been trying to do this with my smoothies too! Cucumber was the easiest addition for me, I add it all the time now. Celery is tricky. I'm trying though! Keep us up to date with your successes and hopefully I'll get some tips from you :)

Sorry about your shoulder lady :( Keep persevering, you'll get there!

    1. Yes, I figured cucumber would be the easiest! And it is good for you anyway so I'm glad I added it in there! I don't even like raw celery to begin with so I'm sure it can be a smoothie killer. Let me know if you find a good combo!

As of right now I had a strange shoulder breakthrough and I'm feeling no pain. Hopefully it lasts! I'll elaborate tomorrow.

  4. When did we all agree to start calling you 'Lady'? Oh well, glad your Mom is aware of your physical issues so I don't need to track her down

  5. Did the cucumber effect the smoothie's taste at all? I guess blueberries aren't that sweet anyway so maybe it didn't make much of a difference.
Love those Pure bars; it's been a while since I've had one. The lunch looks spectacular, though!

    1. I didn't really taste too much of a different. It was a bit more mild than usual but that's about it. I was concerned about it tasting like a salad but it definitely didn't!

The Pure Bar was a nice change and a perfect way to get some chocolate in on this cleanse! Thanks! The lunch was so good and super filling!

  6. That is a yummy lunch plate! What do you usually stuff your grape leaves with? And hummus makes everything better. :)

    1. Thanks Allysia! I have never actually made my own stuffed grape leaves, I get them pre made. They are stuffed with rice and herbs/spices and they are so good! Seriously, hummus is the best food ever!

  7. I bet the head shots turned out great! I love taking pictures, just not being in them (probably too self-critical, I imagine!). Nonetheless, I hope your long day and today went well!

The smoothie sounds great, I'm so excited to experiment with other ingredients (like fresh mint from my herb garden!). I'm all for switching up the greens, but adding other veggies would be tricky - I'll be watching to see what you add! Love the lunch plate, too.

    1. Aww thanks :) I actually don't like how they came out but I'm not a fan of the way I look in photos. It's fine though, I think he's only using them as a thumbnail in an email or something.

Oooh fresh mint sounds so good! I am definitely planning on a different veggie smoothie soon, can't wait to try it! It's not green either ;) The lunch plate was so good!

  8. Yummy looking lunch. What is your method for making tortilla chips?

Ah the photographer will now be in front of the camera! I'm sure you'll do all right though.

Here's some healing hope for your shoulder...

    1. Thanks! I basically cut it up then put it on a baking sheet and spray with a teeny bit of cooking spray. I season with a little salt and bake on 400 degrees until brown and crispy!
