Back to the grind!

I finally feel like I'm back in my routine.  My workouts are more regular, I'm eating cleaner again and I'm feeling a bit better...more sorted out I guess.

I had a training session today and it was a little rough.  I can't imagine that I've lost every ounce of athletic ability in the two weeks I was off so I'm gonna say it is a combination of detoxing my yucky processed crap that I've eaten and the fact that it was about 509345039503 degrees in the gym.  The AC was only turned on a little bit before I got there and clearly it wasn't cooling all that quickly. My face was beet red after and I was gasping for breath.  I HATE working out in HOT and HUMID conditions, it makes life so much worse...but I got through it :)

Here are today's nommy eats...

Breakfast: A pile of watermelon and a pile of HUGE ass cherries.  So refreshing and delicious.

Midmorning: Venti iced soy latte. NOMS. It made up for what I knew was going to be a disappointing lunch.

Lunch: Pretty much a pile of lettuce with a sprinkling of carrot, cucumber, sun-dried tomatoes & portabello mushrooms...there was literally like 4 pieces of each. Sad excuse for a salad and I've gotten salads from there a million times and this is the first time I was disappointed.

Post Workout: Protein shake.

Dinner: A mediterranean feast! I love that this is one of the healthiest cuisines on earth because it is so delicious, my belly is full and I have no guilt.  I had a falafel ball, some sauteed zucchini, yellow squash & onion, spicy eggplant salad, dolma, hummus and a carrot.  Such a satisfying dinner.

There is probably some more watermelon in my future :)  I did a quick Whole Foods run to buy some nutritious, portable snacks to get me through the weekend as I'm working weddings Saturday and Sunday. I'll show you some of the yummy treats I found!!

Have a great night!

Trying new things...

So first let me apologize because I totally spazzed out and only photographed one of my meals.  I literally just forgot to photograph the others. Sorry!

This morning I work up at the crack of dawn and started "dehydrating" my buckwheat crispies from Ani Phyo's books.  I don't have a dehydrator so I had to use my oven and keep turning it on and off to keep the temp low but I feel like these are definitely heated too high but I'm over it.  I just tried a small batch for now  and when I get a dehydrator I'm gonna go crazy!

I did a little running on my trampoline and let me tell you, I'm sore from yesterday! This little break totally threw me off.  We did cardio and abs yesterday and my abs are killing me.  All a good thing though.

Here are the eats...

Pre-Breakfast: Watermelon to hold myself over until my buckwheat crispies were dehydrated.

Breakfast: Buckwheat crispies with banana, raisins, coconut, cinnamon and almond milk.  They were pretty good but I'm glad I put in all of these add-ins to sweeten everything up.

Lunch: Stir fry of broccoli, baby bok choy, yellow and green squash and mushrooms.

Mid afternoon: Iced soy latte

Dinner: salad

That's all folks. Long work day tomorrow, try to update when I get home :)

Fun Survey!

I just came across this survey on another blog and thought it would be something fun to do :) Here is a little peek at who I am!

Three ways I am still a kid:
1. I love putting my hair in pigtails and braids.
2. I like to make playdates with my friends.
3. Even though we drive each other nuts, my mommy is still my best friend and I tell her pretty much everything.

Three ways I am already old:
1. I am very temperature sensitive.  I get SUPER cold in the winter (to the point where I sit in the studio with a space heater on top of me in a coat, hat, and gloves), and warm in the summer (and also cold when the AC is on too high).
2. My joints ache and crack...I inevitably get at least one really good crack every week at yoga that is loud and clear.
3. I stress a lot and work a lot.

Three things I want to do:
1. Learn how to surf.

2. Travel the world.
3. Eat a mostly raw diet and live a greener life.

Three ways I’m a stereotypical “boy”:

1. While I have some pretty hot shoes/heels, I really hate wearing shoes/heels on a regular basis.  I much prefer flip flops or sneakers.  For example:

These are the sneakers I wore for the reception in the wedding I was in last weekend. They were a HUGE HIT. Everyone LOVED them!

2. I like Muay Thai training as my main form of exercise...and I love watching MMA fights on tv and ideally in person someday.

3. It takes me about 10 minutes to shower and then 20 minutes to get ready.  I can't do the whole 2 hour morning routine.

Three ways I’m a stereotypical “girl”:
1. I love shopping.
2. I am a kick ass baker (if I do say so myself ;])
3. You will rarely see me wearing something other than a skirt or dress in the summer.

Three things I want to try within the next three months:
1. More raw foods.
2. A new hobby..definitely something creative (perhaps jewelry making?)
3. Get outside more and be more active outside of the gym.

Three things I like about myself:
1. I am extremely loyal and extremely honest.
2. I work VERY hard.
3. I treat others with respect.

Three of my everyday essentials:
1. Lots of water and some coffee.

Gotta love an iced soy latte every once in a while over the same old iced coffee ;)

2. Some form of exercise.
3. talking to my friends through whatever medium necessary (mostly text and facebook though)

Three things that scare me:
1. Bugs and snakes :/
2. Losing people close to me.
3. Having people think badly of me.
Had fun with this little survey! Hope to see it on some of your blogs too!

Back in the groove!

So I'm finally back into the groove.  My two week mandatory break from the gym ended today and I headed over there after a crazy ass hail storm!! Where does fist sized hail in the middle of August come from!? Anyway, I had a great workout, it was a little tough my first day back but I'll get back into my routine in no time I'm sure.   I also clearly started to detox, which happens out of my face I've come to realize...I got bright red and my skin actually started to burn! It sucks but those toxins need to escape somehow I suppose.

Anyway, I had a yummy day of eats. Check it.

Breakfast: Big ol' bowl of watermelon.

Midmorning: Iced coffee and a banana.

Lunch: Mediterranean Bento Box! I love this box and I'm so glad I finally got to use it! This one holds spicy eggplant, hummus, dolma, and a big ass carrot. Super yums.

Post workout: Protein shake.

Dinner: Salad that was chopped shortly after this photo was taken.  All the usual suspects present - greens, cucumber, julienned yellow and green squash, chickpeas, broccoli, grilled tofu, shredded carrots and sun dried tomatoes.

Have a great night! Hopefully the rumble of thunder will go away shortly!

I'm Back!

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great weekend! I had an awesome time at my friend's wedding and it was especially nice to catch up with great friends :)

I didn't get many pics but I did manage to snap a few shots of the vegan dessert i made for the reception for the sprinkling of vegans in attendance.  I decided to go for the chocolate chip cookie dough brownies.

All cut up and dressed in purple!

Packed up snug in my new cupcake carrier!!! Love this thing!

Be back tomorrow with meals!

Quickie!

Hey everyone, just checking in for a quick update. Not a super exciting food day so I'll just show you what I've got.

Breakfast was much later than I anticipated so I just had an apple with maple almond butter to hold me over until lunch.

Lunch: Stir fry of tofu, mushrooms, onions and zucchini.  It was good and there are lots of leftovers!

Midday snack: Iced coffee and a lemon coconut bar.

Unpictured dinner: Chopped salad.

That's all for today. I'll be at work 11-9 tomorrow but I'll try and update! Gonna be going to Buffalo on Thursday for my friend's wedding so I'll be on a bit of a hiatus for the weekend but I'll try and get some pics of my eats!

Delicious Day

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, I had a Christening to attend so I was out for a while and didn't get any good shots of my food.  I'm back today though with super yummy eats.

I still feel crappy about not being able to train but I'm going to run on the trampoline tomorrow to get the blood flowing.  One more week...

Check out the grub:

Breakfast :A peach, a half of an orange and some cherries.  I ate about 3/4 of it because it was more fruit than I anticipated.

Midmorning: Iced coffee. I've noticed I've been drinking way less of it though. I didn't even drink a full small one.  This is a good step because I'm trying to limit my coffee intake.

Lunch: A delicious mediterranean meal from the Whole Foods salad bar.  Falafel, dolma, hummus and a spicy eggplant salad.  It was SO good, and the eggplant was delicious and spicy and a great addition to the dish.

Afternoon snack: Homemade Lemon Coconut Bar from Ani's Raw Food Kitchen. This treat is PHENOMENAL. It has beautiful, bright lemon flavor from adding a ton of zest.  It is like the best version of a lemon larabar...more fresh lemon flavor, lots of texture and costs less than $2 a bar :) I halved the recipe and made 6 and divided them up using a muffin pan, hence the shape. Totally recommend this treat...dates, almonds, coconut, lemon...can't go wrong!

Dinner will be this salad I made at the Whole Foods salad bar. Greens, carrots, zucchini and yellow squash, chickpeas, broccoli, cucumber and sun-dried tomatoes. This is gonna be good!

Dessert: Yes, I'm having dessert tonight! I plan on eating one of these raw Chai Spice macaroons for dessert tonight.  They look so good, I hope they taste as good as they look! I'll let you know!
